Berkeley Castle - a truly unique wedding experience.

Berkeley Castle is a fairy-tale Castle with a warm pink stone that glows softly in the sunset. It is one of the most remarkable buildings in the Country and possibly the most outstanding example of Mediaeval domestic architecture in Britain, as well as a stunning venue, available for exclusive hire.

Inside the Courtyard the building is very intimate in scale, with uneven battlements, small towers, arched doors and windows of every shape and size.

English history has been lived out within the walls of the Castle and the most remarkable thing is that for nine centuries, the building, the Berkeley Family, the archives, the contents and the estate have all survived together.

Most functions take place in the Great Hall and the Long Drawing Room, but as well as receptions, the Castle is also licensed to hold Civil Wedding and Civil Partnership ceremonies in six of the public rooms. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 128 for the reception.

The Castle is open on selected days from Easter to October, but is closed on Fridays & Saturdays to provide exclusivity for weddings, which can be booked all year around.

Throughout the spring & summer the gardens and grounds are a stunning backdrop for photographs, which include the Elizabethan Terraces, the Ornamental Lily Pond with high-jet fountain, (originally the 8th Earl's swimming pool!) and the mature pine and yew trees surrounding the lawns. Winter weddings are magical and particularly romantic. Throughout December the rooms are traditionally decorated with greenery from the grounds and a 12ft Christmas tree adorns the Great Hall. Real fires can be lit in the Great Hall and the Long Drawing Room giving that extra special welcome and atmosphere on a wintery afternoon.

The Castle's experienced event co-ordinator is available through-out to look after the special couple, as well as their family and friends.
