Weddings in the North West have the choice of romantic rural settings out chic city venues. The Peak District and Pennines are popular areas of natural beauty along with the Lake District – home to Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. There are several seaside resorts in the region including Blackpool, Morecambe and Lytham St. Anne’s plus pretty towns like Chester, Kendal and Alsager. Manchester, on the Cheshire border, has two large shopping centres (Trafford and Arndale) and a vibrant music and cultural scene. The city of Liverpool, also in the region, was voted European City of Culture in 2008 and has many historical landmarks.
