All about Hendall Manor Barns

Discreetly positioned in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, Hendall comprises two perfectly restored historic barns in a captivating and contemporary setting.

At almost 100ft in length, the Stone Barn is an impressive restoration set over two levels. Dating back to the 17th Century, the magnificent sandstone barn features exposed brickwork, a vaulted oak beamed ceiling and large windows that flood the room with natural light.

Warm and welcoming, the upper half of the building has a large entrance and reception area. Slate flooring complements the sandstone and brick walls and there are two large openings, formerly loading doors; one is the main entrance for guests and the other opens out onto a stunning raised south facing terrace that overlooks a large enclosed lawn and is perfect for post ceremony drinks and photographs on a sunny day.

The lower half of the building has kept its period features and oozes traditional charm. In-filled mullion windows, deep set doorways and rough sandstone walls complement the tall vaulted roof and contemporary oak flooring.

Adjacent to Hendall Manor is another unusual and historic stone barn with period features including mullioned windows and exposed medieval timbers. Home to the venue’s overnight accommodation, the barn comprises three distinctive rooms – a first floor sitting room with a vaulted roof and lovely southerly views, a ground floor games room with snooker table, and a studio room with table tennis and fully glazed roof, in use as a hair and makeup room salon on wedding days.

Ideal bridal accommodation, the beautiful barn has two large bedrooms (sleeps 5) with en suite bathrooms, as well as an optional third twin/double bedroom and shower room in a recently converted 19th century pigsty. With beds for 7 it makes it the perfect location for the bride and bridesmaids to prepare beforehand and then for the happy couple to retire to for their first married night together.

Privately owned, lovingly restored and immaculately maintained, Hendall Manor Barns is stylish and romantic location for a contemporary and distinctive wedding.
