All about High House Weddings

High House Weddings are the proud recipients of two recent awards, meaning you can relax in the knowledge that your big day is in safe hands. They earned both the Wedding Venue of The Year (Countryside) for the East Of England at the Wedding Industry Awards 2018 and the title of Wedding Venue Of The Year - Something Different at the Essex Wedding Awards 2017.

Bespoke, beautiful and luxurious, High House is an exceptional wedding venue combining rural rustic charm with elegant style. Its Grade II listed Essex Barn, thatched gazebo, delightful bridal dressing room, stunning marquee and quaint Bride’s Cottage provide everything you need for your wedding in one stunning setting.

High House offers the option of both an indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony. The Essex Barn is a striking building, the jewel of High House, which is stunning for an indoor wedding. Dating back to 1750 and lovingly restored, the barn retains its wonderful character with rustic oak beams and exposed red brick. Full height windows flood the space with light, providing couples with a very special setting to say 'I do'.

For outdoor weddings, standing proudly in the midst of the six acres of luscious gardens is the stunning thatched gazebo. Simple and sophisticated, the thatched gazebo allows the bride and groom to exchange their vows surrounded by picturesque views of the lake, High House and its grounds, including rolling meadow, Monet-inspired bridge and pond. It is a picture perfect place to say ‘I do’.

On the morning of the wedding, the bride is invited to enjoy High House’s exquisite oak framed orangery, which is adjacent to the main house and overlooks the swimming pool. The orangery has been transformed into a luxurious bridal dressing room, sumptuously styled with shabby-chic painted furniture, including dressing tables and stools and coffee tables. With large mirrors and comfortable sofas, the bride and her bridesmaids have plenty of space to prepare and sip champagne before the big moment arrives.

Folllowing the ceremony and reception drinks, the time comes for guests to be seated in the elegant marquee which offers the perfect setting for the wedding breakfast. With views to the lake (spectacular at sunset!) from the decking, the highly impressive space will wow your guests. The marquee can be prepared to accommodate anything from an all-day informal barbecue to a genteel wedding breakfast. The decision is yours.

As dusk falls the marquee comes to life for your evening celebrations. Benefiting from a dance floor reveal (your party is hidden away until the evening), twinkling star-cloth lining, stage, and black and white dance floor, you can be sure of an amazing party atmosphere.

Secluded within its own secret garden, Bride’s Cottage is one of High House’s hidden gems and a heavenly hideaway for newlyweds after the big day. Allowing for a romantic first night as husband and wife, High House provides the charming Bride’s Cottage. With its traditional timber exterior and slate tile roof, mixed with modern bi-fold doors and contemporary comforts internally, the one bedroom Bride’s Cottage is the perfect spot to escape and unwind.

Expertly designed, High House Weddings is a unique wedding venue that ensures a memorable and special day. For an individual and signature wedding, it’s the ideal choice set in the stunning South of England countryside.
