Nestled in 40 acres of parkland, Leez Priory in Chelmsford, Essex, provides a picture perfect setting for a grand country house wedding celebration.

Dating back to the Tudor times, Leez Priory is one of the most highly sought after wedding venues in the UK and is a three times winner of Wedding Ideas Magazine’s ‘Best Wedding Venue’. Situated in Essex, it is well located for London couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and those in the South who aspire to a grand venue with history, charm and character.
Standing majestically at the heart of the estate is the Great House which offers a choice of seven different settings for the civil ceremony.
Our favourites include the stunning Tudor Great Tower which stands adjacent to the main house and is a dramatic building with incredible period features including leaded windows and turrets. A fabulous backdrop for the wedding ceremony, it has an ancient archway which is the perfect location under which to exchange vows as guests watch from their seats on the manicured lawns outside.
Alternatively, the Carriageway is also a popular choice during the summer months as it allows for a sweeping entrance of the bride down a long red carpeted aisle.
The wedding breakfast can then served in the magnificent surroundings of the oak panelled Great Hall which oozes period charm and character with its Tudor fireplace, decorative panelling, wooden beams and stripped wooden floors. The Coach House is also available for larger parties.
Charm and character continue throughout the interior of the Great House which also features a light oak Drawing Room, comfortable Tudor Room, dark oak panelled Cocktail Bar and vaulted Cellar disco area; the perfect combination of interior space for drinks receptions, mingling and partying.
The estate at Leez Priory offers endless locations for captivating photographs. The parkland boasts a host of lovely touches and unusual features. Croquet lawns lead to lakes and water features, with delicate pathways leading walkers around a number of statues and into hidden ‘secret’ gardens; the perfect place to steal a precious moment together as a newly wedded couple.
Finally, as a wistful day draws to a close, the new bride and groom can escape to a luxurious overnight retreat in the sumptuous Granary Bridal Suite. What could be better than starting married life in style with a wedding and fabulous overnight stay in the grand surroundings of Leez Priory.
