This renowned estate, set in the rolling Cotswold hills, was once described as ‘a paradise incomparable on earth' by the poet Algernon Charles Swinburne, and it's easy to see why. Owlpen Manor sits at the centre of a private valley in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by a historic formal garden which is complete with impressive yew trees dating back to the 17th century.
A hamlet of nine holiday cottages is scattered throughout the estate. A discreet and intimate venue, Owlpen Manor is perfect for a couple that is looking for a grand setting for their wedding day which offers privacy and exclusivity in abundance.
There's a great deal of choice when it comes to wedding ceremonies at Owlpen Manor. Civil ceremonies can take place in the famous manor house with space for up to 50 guests, whereas larger weddings can be held in the Cyder Barn, a delightfully traditional medieval barn which is licensed for 100 people. Next to it is the brand new Pole Barn, a large space designed to seat 120 guests for wedding breakfasts. Those looking for a church ceremony can take advantage of the medieval Holy Cross church that sits in the manor house estate.
There's a level of flexibility when it comes to the wedding reception too. Your friends and family can enjoy drinks in the spectacular gardens of the manor house with the picturesque hills all around, before tucking into a fantastic wedding breakfast in the new Pole Barn, or a grand marquee in the manor grounds that can hold 200.
Owlpen strives to make sure that the food and drink on your wedding day is truly special so they offer a wide range of choices for couples to choose from. From a simple buffet or hog roast to a formal wedding breakfast and everything in between, the in-house catering team at Owlpen can cater to your needs perfectly.
When the festivities have drawn to a close, you and your guests can enjoy a bonfire and retire to the nine self-catering holiday cottages situated on the estate. Sleeping between two and eight people and ranging from studio apartments to Cotswold stone farmhouses, the cottages offer something for everyone and provide a secluded hideaway in the peaceful grounds. The cottages accommodate 40 people, and those who prefer to embrace the great outdoors are welcome to camp for free within the estate.
So for a flexible and relaxed wedding day in a breath-taking part of the country, Owlpen Manor might just be the perfect choice. If you would like to see more about this stunning venue or book a viewing, then call 01453 860261, email [email protected] or visit the website here.
