Pentney Abbey is an idyllic and breathtaking destination to celebrate your special day, promising a tranquil escape from the busy city. From the Gatehouse, surrounded by rolling greenery, a medieval Banquet Hall to acres of private grounds, all exclusively yours for the day, this is a stunning setting with endless possibilities.
At Pentney Abbey, you’ll also find a chic bridal preparation room, perfect for you and your bridesmaids to get ready in and relax before your big moment. There’s a picture-perfect bridal suite on-site too and space for your guests to stay.
The Gatehouse, where your ceremony will take place, dates back to 1380 and is first revealed to your guests via an ornamental rose garden with an archway and a short staircase. Inside it’s a huge space and has been lovingly restored to its former glory with grandly exposed beams and ornate stone windows looking out on Pentney Abbey. A secret antique spiral staircase leading to the licensed ceremony room, which seats 80 guests, provides you with a bridal entrance no one will forget.
From a relaxed wedding breakfast to your evening party, The Barn is a stunning and versatile space you can use as you wish on your special day. Expect timber beams and exposed brick, as well as stone flooring and room for up to 100 guests and a DJ or live band. The Barn was once used as a medieval banquet hall, meaning it serves as the perfect place to enjoy your bespoke menu, created by our in-house catering team. There’s a bar here too and a relaxation area for guests to enjoy, as well as access to the patio and grounds. Come evening or for winter weddings, there’s a fire pit in the Barn’s courtyard, ideal for gathering everyone together and toasting the day.
Should you wish to have an outdoor wedding ceremony, Pentney Abbey’s romantic rose garden is a prime spot with the grand Gatehouse providing the perfect nature-inspired backdrop.
Another benefit of Pentney Abbey is the on-site accommodation. There are eight bedrooms in total, accommodating up to 16 of your friends and family who can stay for breakfast in the morning too. The Farmhouse boasts three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is decorated with a luxurious yet cosy décor. It has a dining room and kitchen too. Fig Tree and Walnut Tree Cottages, with their exposed bricks, gorgeous fireplaces and kitchens, are welcoming and memorable homes away from home. The bridal suite is the most stunning of all, with a wood burning stove and sumptuous seating area for you and your partner to relax in after your big day.
If you’re looking for a wedding that promises a break from reality, you’ll love this romantic retreat in Norfolk.
