The Tythe Barn is without doubt one of the UK’s most impressive barn wedding venues. Situated on farmland in idyllic Oxfordshire countryside, The Tythe Barn is a real rural retreat.
Fantastically stylish, The Tythe Barn benefits from a number of features which give it the wow factor as a wedding venue; a charming 14th Century barn, The Cowshed, The Nook, a gem of a bridal suite and in-house caterers Absolute Taste.
The Tythe Barn is a stunning building where history meets contemporary and creative; where simple and traditional sit alongside state-of-the-art. Dating back to the 14th Century, the stone and thatched structure has been carefully restored, ensuring the breathtaking original features of the barn have been retained, including the large wooden stable-style doors. The exterior is elegantly rustic, with the barn maintaining all the beauty of the past whilst clever design ensures light floods in through floor to ceiling glass doors. Internally, the design and attention to detail of The Tythe Barn is sensational, with exposed stone walls, oak beams and wonderful old thatched roof highlighting its authenticity.
The Tythe Barn is typically used for the ceremony and wedding breakfast. However, there is also an adjoining smaller barn fondly known as The Cowshed, which is perfect for smaller groups or fun if used as a cocktail bar or chill out lounge in the evening. With the main barn and Cowshed, glass doors and windows overlook the pretty landscaped garden and weather permitting – guests can indulge in an array of garden games such as croquet and Boules or relax on cool deckchairs and picnic blankets whilst enjoying alfresco drinks in the sunshine.
The Tythe Barn never fails to impress. Through an arched entrance in a beautiful stone wall and past a glorious secret garden is The Nook, the bridal preparation room. Private, peaceful and tranquil, it is the ideal place for the bride to get ready for her big day. The out-house has been converted into a sophisticated room boasting a wall adorned with mirrors and lights and a long fitted dressing table perfect for doing hair and make-up. The sofa, feature armchairs and coffee table offer a comfortable and calming seating area for the bridesmaids and parents of the bride, while a large ornate free-standing mirror ensures the bride can see her dress from all angles before she departs.
