All about Maunsel House

Well placed in the secluded Somerset countryside, Maunsel House is a luxurious wedding venue offering breathtaking scenic views.

Beautiful, romantic and memorable, Maunsel House is a wedding venue that will take your breath away; a striking house that dates back to the Roman period offering a series of stately reception rooms, glorious grounds to discover or serve a marquee, the pretty roofed Pergola and ample accommodation.

Maunsel House is a magnificent 13th Century manor surrounded by over 100 acres of parkland. A grand country residence, the property is full of charm with secret passages and hidden rooms and staircases. Distinctive with its red brick, white sash windows and mature foliage, Maunsel House is aesthetically attractive and instantly inviting. Internally, the building boasts a number of spacious reception rooms each styled elegantly to reflect the prestige of the house.

The Victorian Library is a room of character; Gothic windows framed by stone, deep red walls adorned with artwork, armour and hats, a stone open fireplace, oversized ornate gold mirrors, comfortable burgundy leather couches and an array of antique armchairs. It is a warm and welcoming room for a civil ceremony.

The Regency Ballroom is full of grandeur. From the portrait paintings and delicate chandeliers to the fireplace dressed with candles, the Regency Ballroom allows brides the opportunity to walk down an aisle and exchange vows in an opulent yet relaxed setting. It is also an exquisite space for the wedding breakfast, with French doors leading out onto the lawns, from which a mini marquee can be erected to create a larger room.

The Dining Room is small, cosy and chic; ideal for an intimate wedding breakfast. The focal point is the 16th Century Tuscan walnut table – a fabulous piece of furniture.

What sets Maunsel House apart is its sprawling estate, stretching 2000 acres and including farms, lakes, woodlands, walnut groves, orchards, Somerset Levels and Moors and ancient barn. Discover the wildlife, visit the duck pond, escape to a tranquil corner or simply wander through the woodland, the grounds are outstanding all year round.

For alfresco dining, the roofed Pergola within the walled garden is a must. Covered in scented climbing plants, including jasmine, honeysuckle, roses and wisteria, it is a relaxed and rustic backdrop for a wonderful wedding breakfast.

Staying at Maunsel House is a unique experience, with 13 beautiful bedrooms, many featuring four poster beds. Just a few feet away from the house is the recently renovated South Wing, offering a further four bedrooms. In addition there are five quaint self-catering cottages within walking distance of Maunsel House.
