All about Hodsock Priory

Sophisticated, stylish and full of grandeur, Hodsock Priory is a charming residence with exquisite style; the 16th century Gatehouse and its grounds, stunning period reception rooms, excellent accommodation including a beautiful bridal suite, and nearby parish church, all adding to the wow and fun factor. Hodsock is only offered to one couple per day so you would have totally exclusive use of the House and Gardens.

Hodsock Priory is a luxurious family home steeped in history and four English kings have stayed on the Estate. The unique Tudor Gatehouse’s red brick and gothic wrought-iron windows give it a distinctive exterior that is aesthetically appealing. Its grand arched entrance flanked by two towers is castle-like in style and inviting, guaranteed to make a lasting impression. The grounds are outstanding; from manicured lawns enclosed by mature trees and shrubbery to woodland and rolling green fields, and the atmosphere at Hodsock Priory is peaceful and tranquil. The five acres of gardens provide a magnificent photographic backdrop year round as do woodland carpets of snowdrops in late winter and bluebells in May.

Inside, Hodsock Priory has been lovingly restored, ensuring its authenticity remains evident. Guests arrive at the oak Panelled Hall, a stunning room where traditional, contemporary and informal civil ceremonies typically take place. With historical family portraits hanging on the walls, wooden bookcases and an open fireplace, as well as full height windows flooding the space with natural light, it is a grand room yet with a very calm ambiance.

For those wanting to get married in a church, St Mary’s and St Martin’s Church in Blyth is just a couple of miles away. Rev Kate Bottley (renowned for Gogglebox appearances and Chris Evans’ breakfast show on BBC Radio 2) is in charge at this lovely church and she is always happy to arrange the marriage ceremony.

The Pavilion is a refined room with Georgian windows overlooking the gardens and intricate detail to the walls and ceiling. Featuring cream walls and a wooden floor, a pleasing space has been created which is a blank canvas for couples to personalise, making it the perfect place for a wedding.

Luxury is at the heart of Hodsock Priory’s offer and its accommodation offering is exactly what you would expect of such a prestigious property. The Bridal Suite is romantic with the focal point being the sumptuous four poster bed with off-white drapes and filled with soft cushions. The magnificent room is dressed with individual pieces of furniture including a dedicated wedding dress wardrobe, chaise lounge, an antique console table and feature armchair, and finished off with fantastic floral wallpaper and chandeliers. In the en-suite bathroom there is a roll top bath and separate rainfall shower. With views of the Hodsock estate, it is a dreamy spot for the couple to escape and reflect on their special day.

Other accommodation includes the Blue Room with Colonial American wallpaper creating a timeless interior design, while the Green Room combines vintage prints with modern fabrics forming a classic and chic décor. The former dairy has also been converted into 10 charming B&B apartments, known as The Courtyard, allowing close family and friends the chance to stay.
