With April nearly over and summer on the way we’ve been thinking how lovely it would be to tie the knot in the open air. Could there be a more romantic setting for a civil ceremony than the great outdoors? If you fancy holding your wedding outside, here’s a round-up of our top five outside wedding venues:
Wasing Park, Berkshire
Winner of Best Venue in the Perfect Wedding Awards 2011, Wasing Park has a traditional Victorian Summerhouse licensed for civil ceremonies in the grounds of this private estate. Its beautifully hand painted interior is the perfect backdrop for romantic wedding photographs.
Bracken Bank Lodge, Cumbria
Nestled on a 700-acre estate in the Lake District, Bracken Bank Lodge dates back to the 17th century and is furnished with traditional antiques and paintings. Civil ceremonies can take place in the pretty garden or beneath a temple on an island in the lake.
Gaynes Park, Essex
Voted national winner of the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards ‘Best Venue’, Gaynes Park is a stylish and contemporary barn wedding venue within easy reach of London. Its Gather Barn is a rustic open-sided barn that is licensed for civil wedding and partnership ceremonies.
Ardington House, Oxfordshire
This fabulous Georgian mansion wedding venue has its very own lake with an island where you can get married beneath the licensed ‘Island Temple’. Up to 40 guests can be seated for dining in the house, or up to 200 guests in a wedding marquee on the lawns with views of the lake.
Brewerstreet Farmhouse, Surrey
Unlike many other marquee wedding venues, Brewerstreet Farmhouse is licensed for civil ceremonies in the Riverside Chalet, a wooden gazebo in the midst of lush gardens that is the perfect setting for a wedding outside.
