Wedding discos are brilliant – where else would you encounter grannies giving the 20-somethings a run for their money on the dance floor alongside little kids going crazy to Gangnam Style? As the hosts of your wedding you’ll want everyone to be up, dancing and having a great time; but with several generations of musical taste to accommodate, how do you keep the party jumping?
First things first, the first dance! To kick off the evening, the wedding couple traditionally take to the floor to trip the light fantastic. Last week we shared with you the first dance songs of our real life brides and grooms. This week, we have asked DJ Adrian Hughes to share with us his most requested first dance songs:
“I have been a professional DJ since 1992 and have seen many changes in music styles over the years. Here are, not only my recently requested songs, but also the most requested first dance songs over the last 21 years.”

The theme from Dirty Dancing is a timeless classic, which over the years has been requested as a mix of first dances, last dances and in the main part of the night.
Thanks Adrian! Now, with the first dance over, the party can really get started. Our team of wedding venue advisers have been to one or two weddings in their time, so we asked them to tell us which songs would get them out of their seats and busting some moves...
