Thanks to everyone who ‘Challenged CHWV’ last month, we’ve really enjoyed getting our teeth stuck into some of your thorny wedding venue dilemmas. This month, we have some equally beefy challenges to serve up, so let’s cut this jibber jabber and get started with the first challenge...
We don’t want to waste time traveling around on our wedding day. Where can we have our wedding in one place?
Every bride who has ever married will tell you her wedding went by in a flash, so we don’t blame you for not wanting to waste a moment of your big day. We reckon the ultimate tick list for an all-in-one-place wedding venue is:
- A beautiful setting for a civil ceremony
- Somewhere lovely for the wedding reception
- Overnight accommodation
- The option of a church within easy walking distance if possible
Here are our all-in-one-place wedding venue suggestions...
Set on a private country estate in Berkshire, this boutique wedding venue lets you have your cake and eat it facilities-wise without compromising an inch on style. Wasing Park has not one, not two, but THREE locations where you can get married: a contemporary Garden Room with folding glass walls for civil ceremonies inside, a traditional Victorian Summerhouse with an exquisitely painted interior for ceremonies outside and a parish church just a stone’s throw away. The Castle Barn for receptions is stunningly elegant and has a built in stage, and there is a magnificent Honeymoon Suite and funky guest accommodation.

If you’re dreaming of your own slice of heaven in the heart of the countryside, look no further than Curradine Barns. This pretty barn wedding venue in Worcestershire already has a luxury Honeymoon Suite and 2014 it will also offer superb exclusive-use overnight accommodation for guests in the Farmhouse. There is a parish church just a short stroll down the country lane leading to the venue, and for civil ceremonies, the vaulted Granary Barn at Curradine Barns is at atmospheric setting. Wedding breakfasts take place in the light, bright Barley Barn overlooking the Courtyard and afterwards, the evening reception can spill out into the courtyard and adjacent bar.

Homme House is a smashing country house wedding venue in Much Marcle on the borders of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the venue has a 17th century summerhouse where you can get married or for a church wedding, Bartholomew's church lies on just the edge of the estate. Alternatively, have a civil ceremony in the elegant Dining Room, before its bay windows that overlook the garden, or the Georgian panelled room, which can be linked to a marquee for dining.
