Sussex is one of the most beautiful counties in the UK, a place to stroll on sandy beaches, wander the peaceful South Downs or soak up the atmosphere in one of the many pretty villages that pepper the countryside. The variety of wedding venues in West Sussex is huge, with everything from rustic barns to homely country houses and country marquees.
This county is not only a great place to get married but is also a fantastic destination for mini moons. Your guests might even like to extend their stay too. Bognor Regis and Selsey are great places to go with your bucket and spade or, for an up and coming holiday destination, try the charming port of Littlehampton. Chichester and Arundel are good for history, culture and shopping and the latter is home to a wonderful castle.
Here are some of our lovely West Sussex wedding venues...
When you step through the archway into Upwaltham Barns, you’ll be greeted by lovingly restored flint barns that surround a flower-filled courtyard. The relaxed atmosphere and the rustic chic décor makes this venue perfect for bohemian brides and couples looking for an informal yet stylish wedding.

Originally built in the 1500s, The Great Barn at Dorset House is set in 40 acres near the village of Bury with views over the River Arun. The Great Barn has characterful half hammer beams and a purpose built dance floor, an open fireplace and large doors that open onto the gardens. The Lower Garden, next to the barn, has a beautiful pond edged with willow trees and gently sloping terraces that lead down to the river. The outdoor amphitheater is an interesting backdrop for photographs or an open-air blessing.
Slaugham Place (pronounced a bit like Slah-thum) was an Elizabethan mansion built in 1579-81, which fell into disrepair just 150 years later. Today, its listed ruins include the remains of two towers and three distinctive arches that form a dramatic backdrop for marquee weddings. The venue lies in 12 acres of grounds that include gardens, a moat and ancient trees.

The secret garden of wedding venues, Bartholomew Barn lies at the end of a country lane surrounded by woods and fields as far as the eye can see. The rustic barn has a woodburner at one end and large windows with French doors opening out onto a walled courtyard with a pond. Beyond the courtyard the cottage and woodland makes for romantic wedding photos.
