Updo wedding hairstyles are always popular and look great - but can you do your own? We asked Ashley White, Wedding Hair Specialist at one of London's leading salons, Taylor Taylor London, to give us a wedding hair tutorial.
Ashley White knows a thing or two about how to do wedding hair. She began her career at the tender age of 14 and later went on to reach the finals of L'oreal’s Colour Trophy, Men's Image and Talent Spotting awards. In 2010, she became the Director at Taylor Taylor London’s Commercial Street Salon.
Ashley says, "I love to make my clients look and feel amazing. I pride myself on my work and I’m always eager to learn and expand my knowledge".
So, if you’re a DIY bride and you’d like to expand your knowledge, here’s your chance to learn how to do wedding hairstyles with this easy to follow guide:
Ashley’s vintage bridal hair up tutorial
Start with clean dry hair, comb into a low side parting and prep by spraying with hairspray.
Using either a curling wand or irons, curl the hair all over in 2-inch sections. Try to curl it all in the same direction. Once all done spray a little more and then rake your fingers through to break up the curls.
Make a parting from the crown to the back of the ear on the heavier side of the hair and pin out the way with a section clip.
With the rest of your hair, take it around into a low ponytail the same side as the hair you have sectioned away. Secure with a clear band. Now twist the ponytail around into a rosette bun and secure with bobby pins.
To finish the look, take the front section of hair, smooth down any fly away hair with a little more hair spray. Lightly twist and wave the hair back over the ear and tuck around the bun you created. Secure with bobby pins.
For extra sparkle or interest, you can add a beautiful hair slide or clip.
