Getting married in London evokes images of sophisticated soirees amid fantastic architecture, bright lights and the electric atmosphere of the city. There are so many amazing wedding venues in the capital that being spoilt for choice is something of an understatement. So, we thought we'd shine a spotlight on one of London's most famous locations, Mayfair, and see what wedding venues we could find...
Getting married in Mayfair
Mayfair, in central London, got its name from the annual May fair held here until 1764. It lies on the edge of Hyde Park and has the largest number of 5* hotels of anywhere in the city. As well as top notch places to stay, you and your wedding guests can eat out at some of the finest restaurants in the country.
Although one of the quietest areas in the city, Mayfair is within walking distance of many of the sights, including:
- The West End
- Trafalgar Square
- British Museum
- Buckingham Palace
In this prestigious corner of London there are 3 outstanding wedding venues; Dartmouth House, Lansdowne Club and St. James Club:
This town house, dating back to the 16th century, certainly knows how to impress. Its Churchill Room boasts Louis XIV walnut panels and is fantastic as a ballroom for your evening party. The Long Drawing Room makes a suitably grand companion with its Adam's fireplace and decorative ceiling. It's perfect for seating up to 100 guests for your wedding meal. Or, for intimate weddings, there's the Small Drawing Room. The jewel in Dartmouth House's crown is its stylish courtyard, a rare outdoor oasis in the heart of the city.

Set off Berkeley Square, Lansdowne Club is a marvel of 18th century and Art Deco architecture. Pick your era and get married in either the classical Robert Adam Drawing Room or the glamorous 1930s Art Deco Dining Room. After a drinks reception in the courtyard or Long Gallery, dine in style in the neo-classical ballroom. Its barrel ceiling and galleries at either end make it a truly unique reception space. And, at the end of the night, there are 72 luxurious bedrooms for you and your guests.

The Michelin-starred restaurant ensures your wedding meal will be something to behold. This impressive hotel holds on to the atmosphere of the members club it once was. You'll feel welcomed and as if you've discovered a hidden oasis of calm in a bustling metropolis. There are several gorgeous rooms for your wedding and reception. But the one that stands out has to be the Penthouse, where you can celebrate your special day with the London skyline as a backdrop.
