When it comes to choosing your wedding venue, which wins – head or heart? Your heart says, “wow! This is it!” but your head says, “what about my budget?” It’s hard to put a price tag on the place you’re going to spend the most amazing, romantic, fun-filled day of your lives. But in the game of wedding Top Trumps, budget always wins. That is, unless you cheat. Let us show you how having your wedding this year can help you beat the spreadsheet...
Last minute wedding venues
Did you start planning your wedding on Pinterest before he even popped the question? Great, you’re already on your way to saving money. Last minute weddings are a buyer’s market. And you’ve done a lot of the work already. Now all you need to do is put your plans into action:

If your wedding venue has an Events Manager, use their experience. They’ll be used to planning weddings in a short amount of time and can offer you help and support.

Cheap wedding deals
When you hear ‘exclusive’, do you think ‘expensive’? Actually, places that offer you exclusive use i.e. you get the whole place to yourself, can be just as good value as budget wedding venues. Look out for special offers – you’ll find them mostly on dates available this year. And the trick to getting really cheap wedding venues is doubling up a special offer on late availability with an off peak date:
- Setting a wedding date less than a year away + choosing a weekday or an autumn/winter month creates the maximum saving

Weddings on a budget
Another way to achieve a double whammy of wedding savings is to go for a venue with a wedding deal and trim other costs too. For example, if your wedding venue has a honeymoon suite, could you do without wedding cars? Or, instead of buying favours ready-made, could you get your mates round and make your own?
