10 ideas to keep the kids entertained at your winter wedding

We all know how stressful it is preparing for your big day and just as you thought you had everything covered…you remember the kids!

Having a winter wedding also means that the little ones don’t have the option to play outside. So you’re probably thinking what an earth are you going to do with them? How will they stay occupied? How will you stop them from being bored?! Well, you can either pray for a miracle OR you can follow these top ideas on how to keep them occupied throughout the day.

1. A kid’s table

If there’s going to be a number of children on your big day then what better way to occupy them than with a ‘Kids Table’. They will behave like grown-ups when they are sat at their own table chatting over their little glasses of orange juice. Just add some treats and a novelty gift for each of them and you’re good to go!

2. Colouring pens

It may sound clichéd but we do strongly suggest a pack of colouring pens to keep the boredom levels go down! (A true Mary Poppins suggestion!). This classic colouring activity can keep them occupied for at least an hour or so which means you have peace of mind when chatting among your nearest and dearest guests. *We suggest crayons as they are less likely to make a mess!

A chocolate fountain always goes down a treat with the kids. It’s yummy and a fun centre point for them… add marshmallows, strawberries and other fruit to your chocolate fountain table!

4. A separate play area

This can be as simple or activity packed as you choose, either way it will keep the kids at bay. Add story books, toys, games and puzzles for them and let them have fun while you relax with friends and family.

5. Kids Entertainer

If you’re going all out on your big day then why not hire a kid’s entertainer for a few hours? They can be clowns, balloon makers or impersonators! If you’re going for a fairy tale theme why not invite an Elsa lookalike from the Frozen film?

6. Party Bag/Box

If you don’t like the idea of a kid’s table and you would rather your little ones be at you and your guests side, why not place an activity pack at their seats with their names on? These can include fun games and puzzles, a little gift, some bubbles and sweet treats. This will keep them quiet and occupied while being in your view.

10. Photo booth

Finally, fun for everyone! A photo booth is a great way to continue the wedding photo fun, once the professional photographer has put his camera down. Get all your family, friends and kids to join in and add some props like hats and sunglasses. This will add laughter and a break from the traditional wedding album.
