After your special day, there are few more treasured possessions than your wedding photographs and wedding guest book – a wonderful keepsake containing messages from your nearest and dearest. While the traditional book is certainly special, sometimes it’s good to think outside the box. At Country House Wedding Venues, we love these quirky alternatives…

A Tree of Love

While we all love hand written messages, there’s something rather romantic about fingerprints. This fingerprint tree can be compiled during your wedding reception before being framed to hang on your bedroom wall – far better than a book gathering dust in a cupboard.

The Wedding Map

Ask each guest to scrawl a message on a large map of the world. This is the perfect choice if friends have travelled from overseas to be with you, and if you like the idea of framing your personalised work of art.

Your Bucket List

Instead of a simple note, why not ask your guests to write a wish list suggestion or pearl of wisdom and place it in a pretty personalised bucket. They might suggest you ‘kiss under the stars’ or ‘visit the Eiffel Tower on Valentine’s Day’. Whatever the notes, you’ll love reading them after the big day.

Life on the Waves

Keen surfers? It’s time to embrace your hobby by asking guests to sign your very own wedding surfboard. It looks fantastic, makes a great photo prop and is something you’ll treasure for ever more!

Beside the Seaside

Just the thing for a beach theme, ask guests to adorn pebbles with their pretty messages. As well as looking super cute, it’s an inexpensive option. Other than finding some lovely pebbles (now there’s an excuse for a trip to the beach!), all you need to provide is an array of colourful pens.

Say Cheese!

Instant photos are fun. Ask guests to pose for shots before signing their photo and hanging them on display on a ‘washing line’. It’s great entertainment on the day, especially if you provide costumes and props, and the photos can be stuck in a book afterwards to create a wonderful keepsake.

The Wedding Post

Instead of a simple book, give each guest a card upon which to write a message to you. Putting the card on their place setting means they won’t miss it. Be sure to have a pretty ‘post box’ at the entry to your reception room so that they can post it when they leave.

Let’s Get Digital

Of course there’s always an impressive way of doing these things ‘21st Century’. Create a Digital Wedding Guest Book, receiving texts, emails and multimedia messages from your guests after your big day in a wonderful slideshow. Visit digitalweddingguestbook.co.uk for more information.

Colourful and Quirky

We rather love these guest book postcards. All you need is a colourful table complete with pens and some artistic guests. Ask them to choose and colour their design and leave you a lovely message. Of course, you could always leave some blank cards for anyone particularly creative!

The Perfect Shot

Finally, and perhaps the most romantic idea of all, ask guests to write messages on a large picture mount. After the big day, choose your favourite wedding photograph and set it within the mount – something to treasure for years to come.
