Sparkle and shine

Getting your glam on goes a long way in creating the feel and look of an art deco wedding. Think crystal embellished headbands, beaded and sequin detailed gowns and a short and wavy up-do.

Feathers and pearls can also be worn to enhance your 20s look. Pearl jewellery adds those all-important finishing touches, while feathers look great worn in the hair or incorporated in your shoe design.

Just like your attire, your make up will be pretty special too. Bold red lips and dark and daring eyes complete your art deco transformation and guarantee all eyes will be on you.

Bridesmaids can embrace the style of the day in sequinned full-length gowns. Emerald, gold, silver and white are great colours to complement the art deco colour palette.

It’s not just the girls that will be putting in the effort either - your groom will look rather dapper too. A well-fitted black tuxedo is our favourite look – while the more daring groom may opt for a white dinner jacket.

Art Nouveau splendour

Your wedding venue sets the tone for the day, so it’s important to pick something in keeping with art deco style. Some of our favourites include the Lansdowne Club, situated near swanky Mayfair, the chic Morden Hall, in London and the luxurious Kirtlington Park, in Oxfordshire. You can browse all these and more on the wedding venues section of our website.

The perfect palette

Bold and distinct colours come together to create art deco style. Black, white and gold are the traditional Gatsby colours, but you can also tailor this to complement your own personal style and wedding venue.

Other colours that work well are midnight blue and emerald – both of which look great teamed with gold.

A touch of vintage

There are lots of ways you can incorporate a vintage touch into your art deco day. You can begin with a vintage vehicle – the perfect entrance to your glam 20s affair.

Props and accessories, such as the vintage suitcase and globe, can also come together to tailor your theme to your personalities. These would be excellent props for the art deco couple that love travelling.

Vintage glassware and decanters can also be used to serve up your drinks and accessorise your tables.

Glam designs

Bold geometric designs and stylish typography will feature heavily throughout your décor. This design feature can be incorporated right from the start, in your wedding invitations, and throughout your day in your wedding cake and photo booth backdrop.

If the bold geometric designs of the 20s aren’t quite your thing, embrace the more glamorous elements of the era instead. Sugar pearls and lavish gold designs are other fantastic alternatives for your wedding cake.

Welcome signs and signage, displayed in glam gold frames and written in stylish 20s style font also look great displayed throughout your venue.

Glimmer and shine should also be incorporated into your table design. Think sequin linens, shimmering candelabras and even gold-sprayed blooms.

Fancy fizz

A 20s affair isn’t complete without fancy fizz. While the cocktails themselves will be something special, you’ll also want to toast your marriage with French fizz – displayed on your very own champagne tower.

Another luxurious way to incorporate fine fizz into your celebrations is with a decadent drinks and desserts bar – ideally in black, white and gold.

Party time

The Gatbsy era is famous for its lavish party scene – so you’ve got the perfect excuse to have a ball. Your drinks reception can start with cocktails and croquet and a jazz band for that all-important ambience.

You might also like to incorporate the trendy photo booth and theme it to your special day. Hire an art deco inspired backdrop and provide your guests with 20s style accessories, like feathers and pearls, to pose in.

Black and gold balloons are another fun feature for creating a real party atmosphere, while a sprinkling of metallic confetti, on the dancefloor, is a must!

For the ultimate finale, why not light up the sky with fireworks? The perfect way to end your memorable, wow-factor wedding day.
