This December it’s the turn of Julia, one of our fab Wedding Venue Specialists, to tell us about her dream wedding style. With a love of country and rustic-inspired weddings, it’s no wonder she’d choose the stunning Mythe Barn, in Leicestershire, to celebrate her nuptials…
I’m due to get married in September 2016 so it’s wedding planning central at the moment. When not planning my big day I love eating and drinking, as well as sleeping!
Julia’s wedding venue
Mythe Barn was an easy choice. It offers lots of natural daylight and is modern with a rustic twist – which fits in perfectly with my preferred style of wedding. There’s lots of outdoor space too – great for wedding photographs and fun summer games. Another thing I really love about the venue is that it’s stripped back and unique. You really can’t put a stamp on it.

Wedding theme inspiration
With a love of all things countryside and rustic, there was no other theme I’d consider for my wedding day. Of course, a barn venue, like Mythe, complements this theme perfectly. It’s in such a rural location - it’s stunning!

Wedding outfits and accessories
Big ball gowns don’t really fit with the country theme – and aren’t my style either – so I opted for something simple. There’s nothing fussy about my gown, meaning it will be perfect for our venue and our day. I’ll bring out the country flowers when it comes to my wedding hair and accessories. I plan to wear flowers in my hair, along with a pretty floral wrist corsage.

My groom will look smart with a tailored suit, but will add that all-important rustic edge with a relaxed and informal checked shirt and bow tie. The ushers will share his laid-back, yet smart, style.

Like the ushers, my bridesmaids will embrace the informal look too and dress in shorter, mismatched dresses. I love the mismatched trend and think it’s an ideal look for relaxed barn weddings.

With a neutral and earthy colour palette, I’ll be using lots of natural materials, like wood, in my big day décor. Chalk board signage will also add a feel of fun to the celebrations, while lots of candles will create that all-important romantic ambience.

I’d also give my guests a sneak peak of what to expect with wedding stationery to reflect the theme. Brown recycled paper would be a key element in the stationery’s design.

My bouquet will be full of beautiful country blooms in a whole range of colours. While the rest of my décor will be fairly toned down, my flowers will add that pretty burst of colour – as they do in nature.

As the rustic trend is all about embracing a more laid back affair I wouldn't want that perfectly formed, five-tier wedding cake. I want something lovely and rustic looking sat on a wooden log!

With vast land to enjoy and explore I’d have to enjoy some fantastic entertainment outside. As the wedding is in September, temperatures should still be warm enough for fun garden games out on the lawns.
