For many couples, finding the right wedding venue is one of the most difficult parts of the planning process – but for Sarah and Pete this certainly wasn't the case. In fact, they booked the first place they went to see – the stunning midlands wedding venue, Packington Moor…
Sarah and Pete had a few ideas of what they wanted when it came to their wedding day. A rustic venue and good weather were two things at the top of their wishlist, along with all their wedding guests having a good time. As soon as they saw Packington Moor on the Country House Wedding Venues website, they knew it ticked a lot of their boxes and quickly booked a showround. “We fell in love with the place straight away,” smiles Sarah. “The garden has an archway with wisteria climbing over it, which we loved, and the whole venue was full of rustic charm. We could picture ourselves getting married in the beautiful barn,” she adds.
To complement the pretty barn venue, the couple choose a pretty plum wedding scheme, made extra feminine with the addition of pink and green pastel tones. The wedding flowers, which were a mixture or pink and ivory roses, featured throughout the venue and in the archway at Oat Barn. The couple also enhanced the venue’s design with wooden details, to tie in with the rustic feel of Packington Moor. “Some of our more rustic features included a wooden planter to keep cards, wooden table names in the shape of animals, and wooden hearts as place names,” explains Sarah.
It wasn’t just the venue design that was full of wedding pretty either – the couple’s attire embraced the pretty wedding theme too. While Sarah wore a strapless, mermaid-style taffeta dress, by Ella Rose, Pete choose a grey slim-fit suit and accessorised with an ivory waistcoat and plum cravat.
Dressed in plum and pale pink, Sarah’s four bridesmaids and three flower girls joined her as she walked down the aisle at Packington Moor, setting the tone for the romantic day ahead. And as you’d expect from a fairytale romance, there were plenty of standout moments and surprises in store. “One of my favourite memories is the surprise wedding cake Pete designed for our day,” says Sarah. “He based it on the scene of the proposal – a beach in Australia – and I saw it for the first time on our wedding day. It was incredible,” she smiles.
Keen to keep their guest’s happy with scrumptious food favourites, the couple choose a menu that was guaranteed to impress. “Our wedding breakfast consisted of a Scotch egg starter, lamb main, and chocolate brownie for dessert. In the evening we tucked into stone baked pizzas and also had a popcorn machine,” says Sarah.
The fun-filled food affair set the scene for the party ahead, which also featured a live band. “We asked the band to learn and perform Love Someone, by Jason Mraz, for our first dance,” smiles Sarah, the perfect song to kick start their special night.
Sarah’s top tip:
“After all the hard work you put in organising the day, make sure you enjoy yourself. We took 10 minutes away from everything to step back and take it all in. It was such a whirlwind that we were glad we had that small part of the day to appreciate all our friends and family were there for us.”
