Practical and pretty, summer is a wonderful time of the year to get married. There’s no need to worry about dark evenings or dressing for the cold, making the choice of dresses available to a summer bride even wider. With so much choice comes a tricky decision, which is why we thought we’d lend a helping hand. Read on to see some of our favourite summer gowns, worn by our real-life brides…
Dress: Jenny Packham, Esme
This fitted sheath dress beaded head-to-toe is the epitome of Great Gatbsy style, worn by Angela who got wed at Upwaltham Barns. Glamorous, unique and elegant, the gown would suit both older and younger brides and is the perfect choice for those who are looking for something a little different. We love the simplicity of the shape and lightweight material, perfect for a summer’s day.

Dress: Essence of Australia
Laura’s lace, fishtail-style gown was the perfect choice for her summer nuptials at Bassmead Manor Barns. The fishtail-style is perfect for many shapes, while lace is a winner all year round. One thing we really love about this gown is the shoulder detail, offering brides an attractive alternative the strapless dress.

Dress: Pronovias, Abaco
With so much detail going on all around you, sometimes a simple dress is all you need. This Pronovias gown, work by Alex for her wedding at Clock Barn, oozes style and sophistication. The bright white tone of the dress is perfect for her summer garden wedding. We love the chiffon material, perfect for hot summer months, and the off-the-shoulder straps – saving the need for a wrap or bolero come evening.

Dress: Jenny Packham, Eden
Inspired by 1920s vintage style, Gaynes Park bride, Joanna, choose Jenny Packham’s Eden to wear on her big day. With its beautiful beaded sleeves, intricate detail from tip to toe and soft cut, the dress radiates femininity and glamour. The lightweight floating fabric is also a great choice for those warm summer ceremonies.

Sara’s pretty, lace-embellished gown was the perfect complement to her summer wedding at Gaynes Park. Full of pretty detail and finished off with a bow around her waist, the dress reflects all there is to love about summer. We love the touch of sparkle and dreamy A-line style.

Dress: Blue Bridalwear, Audrey
Summer weddings are all about the fun-factor, which is one reason why we love this full-skirted gown by Blue Bridalwear. Worn by Hannah, at Bartholomew Barn, the lightweight silk dress was perfect for sun-soaked surroundings and spinning around in on the dance floor. The capped sleeves and cinched in waist add a very flattering touch.

Dress: Customised by designers Bahbua
Sometimes the right dress is that picture-perfect image you have in your mind. Having struggled to find ‘the one’ at regular bridal boutiques, Wasing Park bride, Laura, decided to purchase a £170 Grecian style dress and get it customised by designers Bahbua. From pretty lace and satin details, an eye-catching belt and beautiful back design complete with pearl detail, Laura’s sophisticated dress was perfect for her summer romance.

8. Pretty chic
Perhaps one of the most flattering and favoured styles of dresses amongst brides is one with a sweetheart neckline, as worn by Rivervale Barn bride, Lucinda. Combine the neckline with a feminine fishtail style and you’ll be sure to be showing off all your best bits! There’s no better time to wear a strapless, sweetheart gown than in the hot summer months. Teamed with a bit of sparkle, detail and accessories, you’re sure to look the star of the show.
