What have been your influences so far when planning the finer details of your big-day? The traditional white wedding featuring something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue? Or perhaps the outdoorsy country celebration styled with hay bales, a quirky backdrop and your favourite food trucks serving up the day’s delicacies … much like a lot of American weddings out there.
Whatever way you’re planning to style your wedding, we’re pretty sure you’ll be incorporating at least one or two stateside trends that have made their way over to the UK.
In fact, New York wedding planner, Fallon Carter, believes that British weddings will start to feature more and more American wedding twists into 2015 and beyond. And while we like to think the Brits lead the way when it comes to fashion, style and tradition – we do think that US wedding trends lead the way when it comes to fun and quirky big-day innovations.
Stateside wedding trends for 2015
Some trends Fallon Carter thinks will be heading over to the UK in 2015 include:
The Chandelier Cake
This upside down tiered cake is guaranteed to add some wow-factor to your celebration and get your guests talking!

We love this sophisticated, budget take on the traditional sit-down affair. Instead of indulging in a three-course meal, guests can enjoy cocktails and light bites as they socialise throughout the afternoon.

While we love the wedding bouquet, we think these floral wristlets look cute and quirky… and they’re so much easier than carrying around a bouquet all day!

So this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Fallon Carter believes temporary tattoo favours and temporary tattoo stations will be making their way over the pond to the UK. We think it sounds like a right giggle – but it’s likely to only work for some styles of celebration.

Yes – we agree the name sounds a little odd, but we think it has to be one of the best trends heading our way. Man caves are dedicated areas that give the groom and his friends something to do. They’ve put up with our dancing demands and bridezilla moments for years, so it’s only right we allow them some space to set up a vodka bar or an area for smoking cigars and drinking bourbon.

Our personal picks
At Country House Wedding Venues, we’ve been dreaming up weddings inspired by stateside celebrations for a while now – and have the likes of blogs like Style Me Pretty to thank.
So with this in mind, we also want to share a few of our favourite US trends for UK weddings – many of which you may have already considered…
Ribbon streamers on your bouquet
These are a bit of a not-no-secret obsession at Country House Wedding Venues. Ribbon Streamers are such a pretty way to add a whimsical and colourful touch to your bouquet. You can choose from pastel shaded silk ribbons to tie in with your spring fling; lace ribbon streamers to complement your vintage affair; or even sequin streamers to add a touch of luxe to your big-day.

If there’s one thing that’s sure to keep all your wedding guests happy it’s a dessert table – filled with delectable goodies. Whether you opt for home-baked goods made by friends and family, or call in the experts to dish up macaroons, cake pops and cupcakes, we’re sure the idea will go down a treat!
We particularly love how the Americans theme their dessert stations to their wedding style and the season – for example, platters of mini pies and crumbles in autumn along with a tiered cherry pie wedding cake. Divine!

Alternative bridal entrance
For as long as we can remember, the bride has always led the bridal party down the aisle, but now we’re starting to see things being done a little differently…
The stateside trend of the bridesmaids leading the way has started to become more popular here in the UK. One thing we really love about this alternative procession is the suspense and excitement that builds as everyone awaits the arrival of the bride. It ensures every single eye in the room will be on you!

Sequins made it big in 2014 and are still proving to be popular in 2015. The look is great for Gatsby or Art Deco-inspired affairs and more modern weddings.
While décor elements like sequin tablecloths and sequin embellished gowns were hard to get hold of a few months back, many wedding stylists, bridal stores and hire companies are now stocking items to complement the sequin-inspired inspired look.

Gone are the days when your hubby-to-be had to wear tails and your maids had to dress in matching formal gowns – whatever their shape or preferred style. With this American trend we can embrace individuality – choosing a wedding style that reflects our personality and theme while looking better than ever! From light coloured tweed suits with braces, through to mismatched styles and colours for your maids – and we love everything about this more relaxed vibe.
