Oh how we love Spring here at Lily and May, it’s when you know winter is finally over and there’s a promise in the air of new and exciting things to come. Spring has a mass of gorgeous scented flowers, but this isn’t the only reason we look forward to this time of year, it’s the texture and colours that become available too.
Below are some examples of our favourite spring flowers, for those of you planning a wedding for this time of year.
The image below contains an array of spring flowers including blush ranunculus, sweet peas and anemones along with some of our all year round favourites. Ranunculus are a stunning choice for a spring wedding, they have a gorgoues petal structure, almost like a minuture peony.
Anemones look fantastic on their own and are available in many beautiful colours, from vibrant purples and reds to beautiful whites and creams.
If you want a blue flower, then Muscari is a must; this small and dainty flower is related to the hyacinth (another fabulous spring flower) and works really well alongside other blooms.
One of our absolute favourites has to be Lily of the Valley; the delicate bell shaped flowers are beautifully scented. Typically a very pricey flower, it’s most affordable in the spring when it is in season. It can look stunning on its own as well as among other blooms.
Peonies are available from late April (this does vary) and it’s very difficult to resist this large, luxurious bloom. From soft blush tones to vivid corals and reds, the peony is the perfect choice for bouquets and table centres.
Syringa (lilacs) are available during March, April and May, they look fabulous used alone in a bouquet or with other flowers for a gorgeous texture and scent.
It is impossible to talk about spring without the mention of tulips and daffodils (narcissi). Tulips are available in so many different colours, for this reason it’s likely that there will be a variety to suit your colour scheme. These are a great choice for tables, as venue decorations, and look gorgeous on their own in a vase.
