Bahareh reviews The Barn at Bury Court in Surrey

In today’s venue review, Wedding Venue Specialist, Bahareh, tells us about her trip to one of Hampshire’s best barn venues, The Barn at Bury Court. Read on to find out exactly what she thought of the boutique-style barn and its countryside setting…

Having worked in the wedding industry for some time now, I’ve had the fantastic job of visiting a lot of venues – the latest of which was The Barn at Bury Court. From the moment I approached the Barn, I knew I was in for a real treat.

Set in the heart of Surrey’s beautiful countryside, the journey to the pretty Barn was just the beginning of the day’s charm. I was surrounded by breathtaking views of the rural scenery and views of the fields that sit outside of the Barn’s gardens. It highlighted how important the journey to a wedding venue is – as it really sets the scene for your special day.

Vintage vibe

The rural surroundings and style of the brick and beam barn make the wedding venue perfect for the couple who are looking to create a vintage or chic-styled wedding. And while the barn does have that rustic feel, it’s bright and airy too – just what you want for your wedding day.

As I was shown around the venue I gained insight into what the venue offers to its couples. You’re guaranteed exclusive use of the Barn and the grounds for your wedding day and have access to Oast Cottage, the honeymoon suite, before and after your wedding.

Big day amenities

On the morning of your big day, you and your bridesmaids can get ready together in Oast Cottage before making your way down to the Barn. And the Barn itself is just perfect for civil ceremonies. It can seat up to 150 guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, plus there’s space for a further 30 guests to join you in the evening to dance the night away.

From the moment I stepped into the main barn, I knew it would be just perfect for a celebration. Its four floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the main barn allow a lot of natural light to shine into the barn – something you might not expect with a traditional barn structure. There’s also a mezzanine level, which overlooks the main barn giving you many options for your wedding day. Personally, I’d recommend you use this space as a relaxing area for your guests once the real party starts in the evening!

Lush landscapes

With enviable countryside all around, the Barn’s gardens look beautiful too. They were designed by the famous Piet Oudolf, an influential Dutch gardener who’s renowned for his work. With his handiwork and a bit of TLC from the team at The Barn at Bury Court, the gardens and courtyard provide the perfect setting for your wedding photographs and for your loved ones to enjoy. My top pick for a fabulous wedding shot has to be from the Oast Cottage, as your photographer looks down onto you and your guests in the gardens.

The Barn at Bury Court: The best bits

If I had to whittle all of the best bits down to my top three, I’d pick the beautiful Oast Cottage, the pretty gardens and the mezzanine feature that overlooks the main barn. I’ve heard the food is something special too – while I only tried the humus and pomegranate canapé, it certainly got me wanting more!

If you’re looking for a barn wedding venue in Surrey, I’d highly recommend paying The Barn at Bury Court a visit. Having browsed their website before I visited, I can say that even the amazing pictures I’d seen of the venue certainly didn’t do it justice. The Oast Cottage is just so homely and relaxing, and most importantly, the venue has so many different options to make your day.
