In today’s blog, our Wedding Venue Specialist, Nadine, will be giving you a virtual tour of the venue, explaining just why it’s the perfect pick for your wedding…

1. Bassmead is a lovely rustic barn venue with a unique twist

As I arrived at Bassmead Manor Barns I was wowed by its unique style and rustic feel. The space is full of history and very different from your typical barn wedding venue. If you’re local to Bassmead I think you’d be mad to look anywhere else, it’s absolutely breath-taking.

2. There’s a real mixture of old and new

The Rickety Barn is the epitome of rustic, with its wonky beams and original woodwork exposed. With so many original features it’s easy to forget where you are when you walk in. You could well have stepped back in time! The old beams are beautifully decorated with fairy lights, giving the space real ambience, while charming rustic chandeliers add that finishing touch. It’s the perfect place to begin married life.

While you’ll begin your day in the rustic Rickety Barn, you’ll continue your celebrations in much more modern settings. Bridge Barn has been purposely built for weddings and has a slightly more modern feel and an oak frame. It’s bright, light and very spacious. There’s even space at the far end of the Barn that can be curtained off for a DJ or band to set up while you eat.

The Bridge Barn is attached to the reception area, Moat Barn, originally an old Barn that has now been converted into a stunning bar area with modern toilets. There’s also a lovely seating area here – ideal for those elderly relatives who want somewhere comfortable to sit away from the music.

Together the reception barns can accommodate up to 150 guests during the day and 200 guests for your evening party.

3. The venue offers up plenty of photo opportunities

Any couple getting married at Bassmead must make use of all the fabulous photo opportunities. There are plenty of wildlife animals around, so try to see if you can get a goose or peacock on side for some unique shots!

The moat, with its beautiful bridge, also offers up a lovely spot for a newlywed shot, as does the whole pretty garden area. For a great group shot I advise all your guests gather in the Courtyard area, while your photographer heads up to the Bridal Boudoir, for the perfect group shot from a height.

4. The bridal boudoir and onsite accommodation offer the perfect finishing touch

It’s those little extras that really make a difference at Bassmead Manor Barns. The pretty Bridal Boudoir is yours to use from 10am, allowing you and your bridesmaids to get ready at the venue in luxury. Its second floor window is the perfect spot to watch your friends and family arrive, while you’re putting the final touches to your big-day look.

There’s also a gorgeous honeymoon suite, Dove Cottage, spread over two floors, as well as a seven-bedroomed country cottage for your nearest and dearest to stay in at the end of the night.

5. Come rain or shine, you’ll have a fantastic day at Bassmead

With beautiful buildings to enjoy you needn’t go outdoors – even though the countryside surroundings are glorious.

If there is rain on your big-day, there’s plenty of space indoors to enjoy a drinks reception before you reveal the Bridge Barn to your guests for the wedding reception. The two huge oak doors will remain firmly closed, hiding all those little details and décor from your guests until it is time to eat.

If the sun does shine, you’ll enjoy a drinks reception in the Courtyard, outside the Rickety Barn, before heading out to the gardens to admire the countryside views, the moat and bridge, and the gorgeous garden area.

6. The menus from Galloping Gourmet are superb and come with lots of options

All the dishes on the menu were utterly mouth watering. I would definitely recommend the Deluxe package if you’re looking for a traditional wedding breakfast. If you want something a little different then opt for the Casual Dining package. It creates a whole new experience for guests and will work incredibly well for a later ceremony or through the summer when guests want to be based outside more. The cocktails and beer packages are also great value for money.

Galloping Gourmet also offer up unique food options for your evening reception – street food and pizza! The Moroccan street food option tastes even better than it looks and there are lots of extras and condiments people can add to their dishes. It’s a great way to meet the chefs too!

7. Galloping Gourmet will look after every little detail on your behalf

The catering and events team really are amazing. They’ll work with you every step of the way, offering advice and support from the moment you enquire right through to your wedding day. They even look after all your styling on-the-day, setting everything up for you and serving cocktails amongst wild flowers and old crates to enhance the rustic feel of the venue.
