5 ways to keep your wedding light-hearted

5 ways to keep your wedding light-hearted | CHWV

A wedding is a momentous occasion, but it's also the time for fun, laughter and joy.

A wedding is a momentous occasion, but it's also the time for fun, laughter and joy. A few light-hearted touches here and there can help your day be a true reflection of you and your partner, and keep your guests smiling throughout the celebration. Here are just a couple of fun wedding ideas for you to try...

1. Food trucks

This informal yet delicious trend has made its way over from the USA, and we couldn't be happier! From Stateside staples such as mac 'n' cheese, hot dogs and pulled pork to more elegant options like Prosecco and tapas, there are loads of different options that can cater (sorry) to any wedding theme you choose. You could even go for British favourites like ice cream and fish and chips for a wedding breakfast that old and young alike will love.

2. Funny readings

One of the best ways to bring a lovely yet light-hearted touch to your ceremony is to choose readings that get everyone laughing and smiling. Three of our favourites are:

3. A cheeky cake topper

We love tongue-in-cheek additions like this cake topper to add a quirky touch to otherwise traditional elements of your wedding day. As an alternative, why not try animal figurines, Perspex silhouettes or personalised toppers that include your pets?

4. Garden games

For wedding reception entertainment, there's nothing like good old garden games. If you have the outdoor space for it, then hiring giant versions of old favourites like Jenga, Twister and chess make for great ice-breaking activities AND photo opportunities.

5. Relaxed drinks

If formal wine and Champagne receptions aren't your thing, then choose more relaxed drinks that suit you better. Why not have a fun signature cocktail that you and your h2b create together, or Pimm’s on arrival if it’s a sunny summer wedding? Beer always goes down well at a wedding, so if you both love a pint, why not create your own custom beer bottle labels for favours, thank you presents or even welcome toasts.
