Jewellery is the ultimate accessory for every bride. Whatever your style of dress and wedding, jewellery completes the look, whether it’s a simple pair of pearl earrings or jaw dropping head to toe glamour. The key to getting it right is to try on with your dress, and then simply to let the sparkles do the talking…

The Tiara

When we think of weddings, many of us imagine what it would be like to unleash our inner princess and wear a tiara for the first time. It’s a classic piece of wedding jewellery, suited to all styles of celebration but perhaps leaning towards more formal occasions. Here are a few of our favourite styles:

For the ultimate princess style, we love this crystal design by Andrew Prince. It’s the perfect accessory for a simple, elegant gown:

Classic but with a touch of boho, this ‘Floating Star’ tiara is also by Andrew Prince:

Pearls are the perfect complement to an ivory bridal gown. The ‘Harley’ tiara by Ivory & Co is a true statement piece:

The ‘Bronte’ tiara by Gillian Million adds crystal to pearl for a stunning end result:

This Andrew Prince tiara combines crystal and pearl for an Art Deco look:

For a little Grecian style, this ‘Rhapsody’ tiara by Ivory & Co is simply stunning:

The Headpiece

Headpieces and headdresses offer less structure than a tiara. If you’d like to wear something in your hair but don’t fancy a formal tiara, this could be the perfect choice.

The ‘Gin Fizz’ headdress by Kelly Spence is in keeping with a Great Gatsby themed wedding. It’s a bold piece but would complete the look perfectly:

Looking for the ‘wow’ factor? This is probably it… the ‘Gatsby’ headdress by Gillian Million

‘Carly’ by Donna Crain is a stunning accessory for any bride. It speaks for itself, so avoid cluttering with earrings or a necklace:

If you’re looking for a pearl accessory, this could be the one. ‘Goddess’ by Victoria Fergusson Accessories is a delicate, pretty choice for a city or country wedding:

Add a splash of colour with this ‘Evergreen’ headdress by Gillian Million. You don’t need to wear a green dress to carry it off, but could choose a similar shade for your shoes or bridesmaid dresses.

We still love a little vintage, and this ‘Vintage Snowden’ headdress by Gillian Million is a winning combination of style and colour.

Combs and Pins

As an alternative to a tiara or headdress, you might choose to adorn your hair with a simple comb or pin.

The ‘Harvest’ comb by Kelly Spence is a must if you’re opting for bohemian style:

For a little Art Deco glamour, how about the ‘Eliza’ comb by Donna Crain?:

Combs aren’t always demure and can make for a dramatic accessory. ‘Evangeline’ by Kelly Spence looks incredible with a sleek hair style:

Sometimes all you need are some pretty pins. ‘Della’ hair pins by Kelly Spence would suit any theme:

The Necklace

Your choice of necklace is determined entirely by the style and neckline of your wedding dress. A simple gown is often suited to an equally elegant necklace, although the simplicity can sometimes carry off a statement necklace. If your dress has any detailing or beadwork, look for a necklace that suits the design. And, when it comes to the neckline, choose a style that works. Plunging necklines cry out for dramatic or drop necklaces.

If your dress is low cut, choose a drop necklace. We love ‘Georgia’ by Gillian Million:

For something a little unusual, this ‘Kisses’ back necklace by Kelly Spence is a great choice for a dress that is low-cut at the back. Remember – your guests will be looking at your back for the duration of the wedding ceremony:

Crystals and pearls make a pretty wedding necklace. ‘Trio’ by Yarwood-White looks rather angelic:

Of course, if you’re going all out for diamonds, ‘Victoria’ by Tiffany & Co is quite the piece – platinum with mixed cut diamonds. You’ll wear it forever:

The Bracelet

Bracelets and cuffs are favoured by many brides. With a short sleeved or strapless dress, it’s lovely to add interest to a bare arm.

For a vintage look, this bracelet with vintage clasp by Gillian Million is just the thing. Perfect on the day itself, you’ll also wear it for years to come.

The Earrings

And finally…earrings. If you have a statement headdress, simple stud earrings are a wise choice.

While diamonds are a girl’s best friend…cubic zirconias are very friendly too, and especially kind to the bank balance. These stud earrings by Gillian Million are simple and perfect:
