An all-in-one wedding was Carly and Kenton’s top priority when it came to planning their big-day. With friends and family travelling from all over the country to celebrate with them, they were keen to host the perfect celebration…
Wasing Park, in Berkshire, had just about everything that Carly and Kenton could wish for. There was the on-site church for their ceremony, beautiful surrounding countryside and grounds, a stunning barn, and plenty of accommodation for all their wedding guests. “We knew all our friends and family could relax and enjoy the setting at Wasing Park and really let their hair down,” smiles Carly.
With a passion for travel, there was no question about the couple’s wedding theme. “We both work in the travel industry and love exploring the world – so we dressed our day with a vintage traveller theme,” explains Carly. To help them create the perfect day, the couple asked a good friend to create their table centrepieces – which were wooden names of destinations they’d both visited. The pair also added their own crafty touch, designing their table plan using a frame, map, and luggage tags. “It took a few attempts but we got there in the end!” laughs Carly. Flowers were also key to creating the look of the day, and included sunflowers, gypsophila and daises.
To complement the vintage feel of the day, Carly choose a vintage-inspired dress, designed by Maggie Sottero. The gown featured a silk underlay with a thick lace overlay and diamond encrusted belt. Kenton and his groomsmen also looked the part in grey tails, teamed with a green cravat and waistcoat to match the four bridesmaids’ gowns.
A laid-back affair
The couple arrived at their venue early on the morning of their wedding. The girls took over the bridal suite and the boys got ready in the meeting room. Once ready, the pair headed over to the on-site church for their ceremony, before enjoying delicious canapés in The Garden Room accompanied by vocals from the Soul Sessions. “We had small nibbles of fish and chips, breaded mozzarella risotto balls, and sipped on Pimms, while enjoying the background music,” says Carly.
For their sit-down meal, Carly, Kenton, and their guests tucked into a three-course meal including pork and apple spring roll starter, a beef main, and Eton mess for dessert. “We are big food lovers so good food was important to us both,” says Carly. “The canapés, wedding breakfast, and evening hog roast definitely met our expectations – in fact, the pork crackling was the best I have ever tasted!”
Planned to perfection
As the day went on the entertainment kept coming. The couple had organised a photo booth for the day, designed with the vintage traveller theme in mind. “We had a bespoke map backdrop and a stack of vintage suitcases to create the scene,” explains Carly. The pair also hired The Popsmiths to provide music for the night and get the evening party started. The band even learnt the couple’s first dance song, You and Me, by the band You+Me. “Every part of our day was absolutely perfect,” smiles Carly. “We even enjoyed all the aspects of planning our day too!”
