Despite being the first wedding venue they viewed, Steph and Daniel knew that had to book Parkfields. With its tranquil setting and on-the-day exclusivity, it met all the couple’s needs for their special day.
A hidden gem
Before even visiting the venue, Steph and Daniel were sure that Parkfields would be the one. “After reading the literature we knew we had to visit,” says Dan. Luckily, their visit proved to be a success. “As soon as we saw the idyllic building, lawns, and pond, we were sold!” he adds. “Amy, the wedding planner was extremely professional too – which was another big factor in our decision.”
The couple’s wedding day was themed around Dan’s proposal, which had taken place in Croyde Bay. “We got the majority of our décor from eBay, including name cards, favours, table names and the seating plan,” explains Dan. The pair also hired the help of experts to help them dress their tables and chairs for the day, in their chosen colours of ivory and pink.
Finding the perfect wedding dress proved to be one of the trickier aspects of the day for Steph. While she had already purchased what she thought would be her wedding gown, she changed her mind as it got closer to the day. “Fortunately, the shop she bought it from allowed her to exchange in and pay the difference for another,” says Dan. “The new dress was absolutely stunning and when she showed me pictures of the old dress I can see why she changed her mind,” he adds.
The bridal party and groom’s party dressed to complement the couple’s chosen colour scheme of pink and ivory. The boys wore grey suits with ivory / pink waistcoats and a dusky pink tie, and the girls wore silver/grey dresses – which complemented the boys and the overall colour scheme.
A light-hearted affair
On the 29th August, Steph and Dan said ‘I do’ with a memorable and relaxed wedding ceremony. “When exchanging our vows, Stephanie’s ring would not fit -so I sucked her finger and it went straight on like a dream!” laughs Dan. For the rest of their day, the couple and their wedding guests got exclusive use of the beautiful countryside wedding venue. “We had full use of the venue and its 11 acres of grounds,” says Dan.
Good food was an important part of the couple’s day and something they didn’t want to compromise on. For their wedding breakfast, they opted for a warm Stilton tart starter, roast chicken main, and a warm chocolate brownie dessert. “Every one of our guests commented on how good the food was,” adds Dan. “We really did have an amazing day and I would do it every Saturday if I could afford it!” he laughs.
Dan’s top tip:
If you have invited young children to your wedding, think about hiring an entertainer. We had eight children - all under the age of four - and it would have been useful if we had an entertainer to keep them occupied during the wedding photos.
