With a summer wedding to plan, Heather and Stuart were keen to secure the perfect venue for their August date. While the pair shortlisted and visited a fair few wedding venues, deciding which one to pick was easy…
Finding the one
Before visiting Rivervale Barn, in Hampshire, Heather and Stuart hadn’t found a venue that ticked all the right boxes. After walking into Rivervale Barn though, the pair knew they’d found the one. “As soon as we walked into the barn we knew it was for us,” smiles Heather. “The look, the feel, the atmosphere, the staff – everything was perfect. We also loved that everything would be held under one roof. Many other venues we’d looked at were far too spread out,” she explains.
Known for its natural beauty, Rivervale Barn was already wedding-ready. While it didn’t need much styling and décor, the couple were keen to add a few personal touches. To complement their blue colour scheme, Heather and Stuart accessorised their chairs with royal blue sashes. Stunning blue hydrangeas also featured throughout their wedding design, standing in tall vases on the table. To enhance the shabby chic feel of the modern barn, wicker and wooden hearts were also added to the walls. And for guests, trivia books were placed on the tables – ideal for a bit of wedding breakfast fun! “We really didn’t need to do much to the venue at all. It’s pretty much perfect as it is,” smiles Heather.
Mad about the boy
All the couple’s plans came together on the 17th August as they tied the knot at Rivervale Barn. The pair certainly dressed to impress – Heather in an ivory lace wedding gown, with keyhole back detail and diamante belt, and Stuart in a grey three piece suit with royal blue tie. Heather’s four bridesmaids also wore the colour of the day – royal blue. “Seeing Stuart for the first time at the end of the aisle has to be one of my stand out moments of the day,” reminisces Heather. The speeches that followed the ceremony were rather memorable too – mostly because of the comedy factor!
Just like the chic and timeless style of the day, Heather and Stuart’s wedding menu was sophisticated too. Prepared by the in-house caterers, the couple chose a fine dining three-course menu from a wide range of classics and unique courses. They opted for a beetroot starter, beef main and poached pear dessert – all of which went down very well with their guests.
The perfect party
As the night progressed, the couple continued to enjoy their day in a classy, classic manner. They warmed up the dance floor with a first dance to I Will Always Love You, by Elvis Presley, before dancing the night away with friends and family. “The day was perfect, I wouldn’t have changed a thing,” smiles Heather.
