Millie and Ash had a lot of things in common, which they were keen to reflect in their wedding day. One of these things was their farming background, which they planned to make the theme of the day.
Clock Barn, in Hampshire, was the first, and the last, venue the couple visited. From the moment they arrived at the Barn they knew it was the one. “It was simply stunning all on its own,” says Millie. Ideal for the country and rustic theme the couple had in mind, Clock Barn already echoed their vision. “We barely needed to dress the venue but my mum did our wedding flowers for the table centrepieces and helped me dress my decorative table,” explains Millie.
To tie in with their unique, laid-back wedding style, the couple opted for wedding attire that was a little different from the norm. Millie wore a mocha gown, covered in ivory lace, and teamed with cowboy boots, and Ash wore a tweed jacket with tweed bow tie, white shirt and brown trousers. While the couple embraced their own personal style, Millie’s two bridesmaids and two flower girls were dressed more traditionally in ivory dresses.
A family affair
Just as you’d expect from a true country wedding, Millie arrived at her church ceremony by tractor. “It is one of my favourite memories of the day – along with walking down the aisle and seeing Ash’s face,” smiles Millie. The couple went on to celebrate at Clock Barn, where they enjoyed the countryside setting and plenty of fun. “It was so special to have all our favourite people there to celebrate the day with us,” says Millie. “I had friends trying to outdo each other with handstand and forward rolls outside – it was hilarious,” she laughs.
For their wedding food the couple opted for a traditional and simple menu of seasonal soup, beef roast, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert – classics that all their guests would enjoy. “It was really important to have a wedding that reflected us and our backgrounds,” explains Millie.
The perfect party
The couple’s delicious wedding menu was only the start of a fantastic night of celebrations. The pair shared a first dance to Faithfully, by Journey, before inviting the rest of their guests on the dance floor. “We had such a wonderful day. My only regret it that we didn’t make it a week long event!”
