Lucinda and Kenny wanted much more than just a one-day wedding celebration. The couple dreamed of a huge party with family and friends and all their nearest and dearest staying on-site for the night…
Our special place
Luckily, the pair found all they were looking for at Wasing Park. It was the first venue Lucinda and Kenny visited and the only one to fully meet all their big-day requirements. In fact, the couple were won over by the venue even before stepping inside. “We were blown away from the moment we drove up the beautiful drive,” says Lucinda. “It felt like home,” she adds. Despite going on to visit other wedding venues, the pair went straight back to Wasing, confident that it was the perfect choice for their special day.
Chic and pretty
Lucinda and Kenny took inspiration from the popular vintage, shabby chic trend when it came to their styling. “It seemed to tie in with the venue and we were able to create the theme without going over the top,” explains Lucinda. Keen to keep things simple, the pair added pretty florals to their tables, silver grey bows to the dining chairs, and soft pink accents throughout. The soft colour scheme inspired the wedding party’s attire too – with the four bridesmaids wearing blush, salmon, sage and silver and the groomsmen wearing colour accents to match.
When it came to her wedding dress, Lucinda opted for a traditional white gown from Enzoani. The dramatic gown featured a sweetheart neckline and mermaid-style silhouette and was teamed with a cathedral-style veil. Kenny kept his look traditional too, donning a grey lounge suit with ivory waistcoat and tie.
Planned to perfection
Lucinda and Kenny tied the knot at St Nicholas Church, on-site at Wasing Park, before continuing their celebrations at the barn wedding venue. The convenience of the on-site church allowed the pair to make the most of their day and ensured an easy transition from ceremony to reception.
One of the highlights of the wedding reception was the three-course menu, which was perfect for the spring wedding season. The pair chose a smoked bacon scotch egg to start, chicken roast main, and a shortbread tower with clotted cream and fruit for dessert. Lucinda’s favourite moment, however, was the surprise entertainment secretly planned by Kenny. “Kenny’s cousin, James, put on an amazing performance for our wedding,” says Lucinda. “I had always wanted him to perform but was so busy with all the wedding planning that I never got around to arranging it,” she explains. “He was fantastic and the whole performance totally caught me off guard.”
Ours for the night
At the end of the night, the couple didn’t have to travel far. With a beautiful honeymoon suite on-site and accommodation for family and friends in the Farmhouse, Bothy, and Estate Rooms, the newlyweds were able to leave their goodbyes until the next morning. “I just wish we had spent more time together throughout the day,” says Lucinda. “Everything goes by so quickly - you really do have to cherish every single moment.”
