Before Hannah had got engaged she knew exactly the kind of wedding venue she wanted to get married at. With dreams of a romantic and rustic affair, only a barn venue would meet her and Gareth’s needs…
The perfect mix
As soon as the couple arrived at Mythe Barn they knew it was the one. “It was modern and rustic at the same time, and had plenty of open spaces while still feeling intimate and cosy,” explains Hannah. With all their wedding dreams fulfilled, it wasn’t long before the pair secured their November wedding date.
Leaves, love and laughter
Keeping true to the venue’s style, the couple continued the rustic theme as they added their own décor. “We wanted to keep things simple and autumnal,” says Hannah. The couple did this by incorporating lots of leaves into their design, creating their very own seasonal wonderland. “We had oak leaves scattered down the aisle, and then brushed to create a path, plus leaves scattered all over our tables,” says Hannah.
Colours of nature
The couple’s autumnal wedding theme was even reflected in Hannah’s dress, which was harvest in colour. “During the lead up to the wedding I joked with Gaz that the dress was brown,” laughs Hannah. “Luckily he was pleasantly surprised when he saw me walk down the aisle on our wedding day,” she adds. Gareth opted for a traditional look in a dark grey suit with tie and pocket square to match the Hannah’s three bridesmaids, who wore dark mint.
Slip of the tongue
On the day of the wedding Hannah, her three bridesmaids, and her maid of honour, arrived in two camper vans – one in peppermint, the other in caramel. While the couple were keen to have a relaxed, laid back wedding day, they hadn’t expected Gareth would have to repeat his vows. “We all laughed when Gareth said his vows incorrectly and had to start again!” smiles Hannah.
With the formalities over, the newlyweds could enjoy the rest of their wedding celebrations, starting with their three-course feast. “We had leek and potato soup followed by a roast chicken dinner. For pudding we opted for dark chocolate torte with white chocolate sauce – perfect for chocoholics like us!” says Hannah.
The celebrations continued with fun at the couple’s Polaroid stand, a surprise father-daughter dance, and a tasty evening feast of Chinese food. Hannah and Gareth had also organised live music for their day and planned a first dance to the sounds of the acoustic guitar. “We danced to I’ll Be There For You, from Friends,” smile Hannah. “It was such an amazing day we want to do it all over again; the day went by far too quickly.”
