When it came to their wedding, Nicola and Grant had just two simple wishes for their special day – a whole lot of love and lots of laughter. Of course, finding a venue with the right atmosphere was key to helping create the couple’s happy day. Luckily for Nicola and Grant, finding that venue came easily…
After researching the best local wedding venues, Nicola and Grant booked a visit to go and see Wasing Park. The Berkshire venue did more than impress, in fact, it completely won over the pair. “Wasing Park was the only venue we visited and just felt perfect,” smiles Nicola. “The location, people, food and accommodation were all we had hoped for and more.”
A classic touch
To complement the chic wedding venue, Nicola and Grant opted for a simple and elegant theme. “Our colour scheme was almost entirely white, with just a few hints of navy,” explains Nicola. With beautiful white orchids, candles and fairy lights, and exquisite white draping, the couple managed to transform the already pretty venue into something spectacular. “We have to thank Wasing Park’s recommended suppliers for our décor, they were all really impressive,” says Nicola.
Just like her wedding details, Nicola created a simplistic yet chic look for her day. She wore a Vera Wang dress in ivory silk crepe, with pretty details including a cowl back. Not one to be beaten in the style rankings, Grant also dressed to impress in a tailor-made suit. “It was made from a luxurious Italian fabric and teamed with a white silk tie,” explains Nicola. “He even had our initials and wedding date embroidered inside his jacket,” she adds.
One of the reasons Nicola and Grant chose Wasing Park was because of its beautiful grounds, which Nicola hoped to walk through on her way to the ceremony. While she had a car on standby, the pair were lucky enough to have abundant sunshine on their day, meaning Nicola could walk through the grounds to meet her groom. Her three flower girls and two bridesmaids joined her, as she made her way to tie the knot.
The couple celebrated their marriage with drinks, followed by a delicious wedding breakfast. The couple handpicked their favourite things from the wedding menu to serve up a feast they certainly wouldn’t forget. For starters they had spears of warm asparagus, soft poached egg and Hollandaise sauce. A main of beef and Dauphinoise potato followed, along with a dessert of vanilla shortbread with fresh raspberries and clotted cream.
Love to dance
One of the highlights of the couple’s day was always going to be the first dance. “As a dance teacher and a bride I had high expectations of the first dance, so we worked hard to deliver a moment for our guests to remember,” laughs Nicola. As expected, the couple danced to perfection to their first dance song by Tom Odell. “We wouldn’t change a thing about the day,” says Nicola. “It was all we could have wished for and more.”
