Pastel pink remains one of our favourite wedding colours. Find out more here…
Pastel pink remains one of our favourite wedding colours. It suits sunny, outdoor weddings just as perfectly as cosy winter celebrations, and it’s an easy shade for bridesmaids to wear. It also helps that there are an abundance of flowers available in this pretty shade, from roses and peonies to ranunculus and sweet peas. Let’s take a look at pastel pink blooms, and how they might accompany your wedding day.
Bouquets
When we think of weddings and flowers, we think of bouquets. Your ultimate accessory, a bouquet should complement your dress in both style and colour.
These pastel pink roses and lilies combine with greenery to create a pretty summer bouquet. The informal hand-tied style fits the 2016 trend for the ‘just-picked’ look.

An ethereal dress, perhaps with lace or beading, requires an arrangement of equally delicate flowers. This bouquet featuring peonies and anemones shows us the very softest shade of pink, highlighted with just a hint of foliage.

For a country wedding, keep your bouquet loose. This bouquet would work perfectly for a more boho style celebration.

Of course, pastel pink can also be vibrant when accompanied by deeper shades of pink. This quirky bouquet includes a wonderful selection of flowers from dark pink peonies to roses and yellow-tipped tulips.

For a contemporary wedding, a more structured bouquet works well. This design doesn’t include any foliage. While it would suit most styles of wedding, the lack of greenery leans to a more contemporary city wedding.

If contemporary is your thing, move away from delicate blooms and choose something striking and elegant. We love this protea bouquet – a single flower that makes a huge impact.

To soften a little, you might add a crown of roses…

… or perhaps even carry a single stem.

Bridesmaids
Your beautiful bridesmaids can simply carry a slightly smaller version of your bouquet. When it comes to choosing bridesmaid dress colours, be inspired by the different shades of pink and green in the posies. These bridesmaids have each chosen a shade to suit their skin tone and dresses.

These bridesmaids are wearing the same colour but different styles of outfit – tying together the look with identical posies.

The beauty of this blush pink is that it co-ordinates with all other pastel shades – particularly soft green and powder blue. The pink in these bouquets adds another dimension to the wedding colour scheme.

Delicate shades of green look wonderful at country weddings. We love this pretty rose bouquet which really lifts the dress colour.

As an alternative to posies, consider floral crowns for your bridesmaids. They look particularly stunning with a more simple style of dress.

Keep things uncomplicated for flower girls – they don’t need anything heavy to carry. This single stem ‘wand’ with a lavish ribbon is just the thing.

If you decide on a posy, keep it sweet and small – just a few flowers that co-ordinate with your bouquet.

Grooms
A pink buttonhole will tie in nicely with your chosen bouquet. Soft pink co-ordinates with all suit colours, from the traditional morning suit to a lightweight summer lounge suit. It’s not necessary for your groom to wear a pink tie, as long as his tie co-ordinates perfectly with his suit.

Here, the groom has chosen a pink tie, perhaps to co-ordinate with the bridesmaids. A pink buttonhole completes the look.

Table centrepieces
When it comes to table decorations, pastel pink always looks pretty at an informal, summer wedding. This glass jar filled with blooms looks like it has just been picked from the garden. Effortless and relatively inexpensive.

Sometimes, there’s nothing more perfect than roses. Sitting in glass jars on a wooden table, this is the ultimate in rustic style.

Equally summer but with a little more formality, neutral coloured table linen and a runner makes a lovely canvas for this line or mis-matched table arrangements. Pastel pink and yellow stand out to create a splash of spring colour.

Cool and contemporary, a simple vases of pink peonies is pure elegance.

A hint of metallic is always lovely at a wedding. This style of silver still plays with a more vintage look, with the addition of candles as the sun goes down.

Elegant silverware and pristine white linen are the basis for a more formal table. These arrangements are elaborate and stylish, with smaller arrangements in between to cater for every eye level.

For the ultimate in glamour, combine blush pink with gold. This venue offers the perfect setting, while the table features gold chairs, candelabra and even cutlery to co-ordinate with the lavish floral arrangements.

Cakes
The wedding cake is a blank canvas upon which you can portray your chosen wedding style. Pastel pink works well with powder blue as a base colour. These cakes would be perfect at a wedding with bridesmaids wearing the same shade of blue.

Sugar flowers show exceptional craftsmanship and, of course, stand the test of time on a warm summers day. This cake is breathtaking - its simple white icing showing off an impressive selection of sugar flowers.

Cakes don’t have to be enormous! You might choose to have two or three smaller cakes dotted around the room, or on a dessert table. We love this delicate design in soft pink.

Illustrating how well pastel pink works with gold, the simplicity of this design gives it a vintage feel.

A more formal design, the gold here features in edible sequins and lacework, complemented by impressive sugar flowers.

This might be one of our favourite cake designs – contemporary and oh-so-cool, with a pink sugar flower to top it off!
