Did you know that we've made a video? Well we have and it's live now so you can see some amazing ways to create DIY Wedding Cakes for Under £100, yes that's right, UNDER £100! If you haven't seen it yet make sure you check it out here, it's bound to give you some great ideas and show you just how easy it is to decorate your own wedding cake in style!
We're not suggesting you have to bake the whole thing from scratch, unless you're a whizz in the kitchen then this might prove a little stressful! What you can do though to make your wedding cake your own and save yourself a little bit of money is take care of the decorating. This doesn't have to take long and certainly doesn't have to cost very much at all.
Charlotte, one of our incredible wedding venue specialists, volunteered to take up the challenge and decided on a hand-made, boho style for her cakes. Charlotte is no stranger to her local craft store and stopped by again to pick up plenty of supplies to create two amazing cake designs.
For the first, she used white and blush coloured pom-poms to surround the bases of each tier and then topped her cake with a string of mini pom-poms and some cute little ‘just married' bunting. Charlotte then decorated the table by scattering some pom-poms and using a roll of twine as a makeshift vase to hold a sprig of gypsophila, completing the design perfectly.
Fit for a boho queen
For her second design, Charlotte took some feathers, sprayed the tips gold and dipped them in glitter. She then attached a little bit of gypsophila to each one and tied them to individual cocktail sticks so that they could be inserted into the cake.
Charlotte placed each feather in a circle around the top tier creating a beautiful natural crown that looked amazing and really caught the eye. She also wrapped each tier with detailed white lace and set the scene with a pretty lantern. It would be the perfect look for a beautiful boho wedding!
You might look at the pictures of these cakes and think ‘I don't have the time to do that!' but actually these sparkling feathers only took Charlotte about an hour to make. Her designs didn't break the bank either, spending just under £10 on each cake. It just goes to show that if you put in a little bit of time, you can create a truly stunning DIY wedding cake that you and your guests will love!
