We love winter weddings. They’re romantic, beautiful and absolutely fantastic plus you can be sure that everyone will always be in the mood for seasonal treats and a brilliant party. If you want to throw the best ever winter wedding, then you need this feature. We’re going to show you just what you need and share some of our favourite winter wedding ideas.
Your winter wedding theme
When you’re planning a winter wedding, you just have to start with the perfect venue and luckily, we’ve got plenty of those for you to choose from! Whether you want a chic city affair or a relaxed country celebration, make sure you select a venue that’s got plenty of indoor space with lots of room for creative decorations and seasonal fun and games. This is going to be the best party ever!
With your venue all confirmed, it’s time to move on to your wedding day outfits. For brides, opt for a wedding dress with sleeves or team your dress with a gorgeous shawl or snug bolero.

Up your accessories game too with a sparkling headpiece, killer heels and a super romantic veil. Alternatively, for a wilder look, a flower crown and outsized bouquet in deep seasonal shades will be just gorgeous.

Grooms, a well-fitted sharp suit is the best choice for city venues whilst country weddings demand luxe tweeds. Layer up with different colours and textures for the best look and finish with perfect brogues. Bridesmaids look amazing in full length gowns in rich colours, sparkles or romantic dresses with warm wraps and shawls.

The best winter wedding ideas
Now lets turn our attention to decorations shall we? If there’s something that’s super important for a winter wedding, it’s lighting. Ditch those overhead lights completely and let your wedding glow with soft candlelight and twinkling fairylights. Not only are both completely seasonal, they’re also a really effective way to decorate. Wrap lights around pillars and beams at your venue and use more fairylights to decorate table plans, photo displays and more. Light tables with candles to create an intimate atmosphere as you eat and line your aisle with more candles to really set the scene at the start of the day.

The current foliage trend is absolutely perfect for weddings so go for it with the greenery! From chair swags and backdrops to wreaths, place markers and cakes, this is a must-use wedding decoration. Also don’t forget the mistletoe!

Winter is the best time for feasting so think carefully about your menu too. Warming beverages are perfect for drinks receptions (especially if you want to get your guests to step outside for photos!) and team these with tasty hot canapés too. Mini Yorkshire puddings are always popular but speak to your venue and see what they suggest for the season. In the evening, why not serve wood-fired pizza and set up a hot chocolate stand for another top treat!

Finishing touches for your winter wedding
Quite often, it’s the finishing touches that really make your wedding extra special and in winter, there are so many things that you can add. How about using gorgeous baubles for your table plan? These can also double as fabulous wedding favours for guests? We also adore hot chocolate stirrers and seasonal cupcake gifts for guests too.

Using seasonal details is always a great idea and in winter, pine cones are perfect. These make brilliant place card holders, chair decorations and accessories for floral arrangements. We also love stationery that includes seasonal motifs or a touch or frosty sparkle.

Finally, there are a few things you really need to include. Provide plenty of blankets for guests in case the weather is really chilly and don’t forget a big wintery decoration or two. Make sure that your wedding morning looks and feels wonderful with pyjama gifts for your girls and don’t forget the make time for some beautifully romantic winter wedding photos. Your winter wedding will be something your guests won’t ever forget!
