For Roxane and Richard, an ambient venue with an amazing atmosphere was key. They wanted to plan a day that not only met their needs - but met that of all their guests too.
Synwford Manor, in Cambridgeshire, offered the perfect party atmosphere the pair were after. “It looked incredible,” smiles Roxane. “We loved the black, white and grey interior and the whole extravagance of the venue,” she adds. The venue’s interior also met all the couple’s style requirements, complementing their chosen theme for the day. “We didn’t want anything bright and bold so the Manor’s clean, classic looked suited us best,” explains Roxane.
In keeping with the Manor’s monochrome style, the couple dressed the venue in black, white and grey. They used grey glass pedestal vases, filled with flowers, as centrepieces and enhanced wedding tables with candles and love heart name cards. Roxane’s wedding flowers included a combination of gorgeous white blooms from oriental white lily to white freesia and large headed cream roses.
A touch of glam
The pair were also keen to add a few wow-factor details to their wedding reception space. For their table plan, they used a silver sparkly mirror, adding a touch of modern charm to their stylish affair. Their wedding cake was extra special too – featuring six tiers in black and white. “As we wanted six tiers, we decided to have a fake cake with polystyrene in the middle,” explains Roxane. “It was iced in white and had black lace around the base of every layer and cake sparklers on every other layer.”
The morning’s preparations involved Roxane spending quality time with her dad. “He arranged for us to have some time alone before the ceremony,” she explains. “We had a glass of wine and he gave me a handmade card with a photo of me and my beloved nan in it, telling me how proud he was of me,” she smiles. “It was such a special moment. It made my day.”
Roxane and Richard said “I do” at St Mary’s Church in Newmarket, before heading to Swynford Manor for their celebrations. “The ceremony was definitely one of the best bits of the day,” smiles Roxane. “We loved saying our vows and then being introduced as Mr and Mrs Farrer, for the first time, at Swynford Manor.”
Dining in style
The couple’s celebrations began with a drinks reception and wedding breakfast inside the Manor. Their decadent menu included a duck starter, corn fed chicken main and rich chocolate tart for dessert. “The food was so tasty, we knew all of our guests would enjoy it,” says Roxane. Just after their wedding breakfast, the pair went up to their room so they could freshen up and have five minutes to take in what had happened. “It was lovely to spend some time alone,” smile Roxane.
The ultimate party
Roxane and Richard certainly knew how to throw a good party. They put on plenty of entertainment for their guests, providing a photo booth, black jack and roulette tables and a DJ to play party tunes. “The day was perfect – I just wish we had it filmed so we could watch it back. It went by far too quickly,” says Roxane.
