At the beginning of their wedding planning, Liv and Alex put in all their efforts to find exactly the right wedding venue for their day. While they didn’t have a huge checklist of requirements, they did want to find a venue where they felt at home; a place they could share their special day with their closest family and friends.
Liv stumbled upon Curradine Barns by chance, while reading a blog post that featured the venue. She was wowed right away and was surprised to find that the venue was relatively close to home. “I remember thinking “Wow, this place must be in the middle of nowhere” – but it was actually just 45 minutes from our home,” says Liv. Having discovered that a wedding at Curradine Barns could be a possibility, the couple were quick to book a venue visit. “It just felt right. We still felt ourselves when looking around the venue and that was so important,” explains Liv.
Years in the making
Styling the venue came easy to Liv and Alex, thanks to their forward planning and DIY skills. Over the years, the couple had stocked up on décor they thought would suit their wedding, locking it away until the big-day. “We decided to buy all our own wedding decorations to save money and to help us put our own stamp on the day,” explains Liv.
A lot of Liv’s wedding decisions were made on gut instinct – her dress being just one of them. Liv’s wedding gown was actually the very first dress she tried on and she immediately knew it felt right. “In other dresses, I didn’t feel like me. It was like I was wearing somebody else’s wedding dress,” explains Liv.
A pop of colour
With post box red being the colour of the day, Alex was sure to add a pop of colour to the groom’s party. The groomsmen wore navy suits with red knitted blue ties while Alex teamed his suit with a navy bow tie. “They all looked very dapper,” smiles Liv. The rest of the wedding party also embraced red, with the pageboys wearing mini versions of the groomsmen’s suits and Liv’s bridesmaids, her three sisters, wearing bold, red gowns.
Feasting with friends
Liv and Alex were keen to spend as much time as possible with friends and family at their wedding – so creating a day where everyone felt welcomed was really important. To ensure all their guests enjoyed the full wedding experience, the couple made sure to choose one of the in-house caterer’s fool proof three-course wedding menus. For the wedding breakfast, guests enjoyed a starter of roasted root vegetable soup, a burgundy chicken main, and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla bean for dessert.
With the formalities of the day over, the newlyweds could really begin to relax and have a wild night with all their guests. “Alex and I didn’t stop laughing all day,” smiles Liv. “All the pictures show just how happy we were – we just couldn’t believe we were finally married.”
