When it came to their wedding day, Carly and Jack wanted to keep things relaxed. Great food was a huge priority – as was a superb evening party, which would be guaranteed with the help of a fantastic band.
Chic and unique
There were just a few things the couple had in mind when choosing a wedding venue. As they were keen to get married outdoors, they wanted to find a venue with an outdoor ceremony license. Carly also dreamed of a chic, rustic affair – so a rustic vibe was a huge plus. “Slaugham Place had a wonderful rustic feel about it and was so different to all the other wedding venues we’d seen,” she explains. “It was relaxed but pretty and well put together at the same time,” she adds.
Pretty in pink
Carly and Jack dressed their venue with pretty, feminine shades of pink and white. They also kept their décor simple and natural – in keeping with the rustic feel of Slaugham Place – styling with plenty of greenery and flowers. “I wanted our décor to look effortlessly chic,” explains Carly. A beautiful collection of flowers - including sweet avalanche roses, white and pink dahlia and hydrangeas - completed the look, featuring in the venue décor and Carly’s bouquet.
All dressed up
Carly’s gown was ultra-feminine in style too. Her fairy-tale Pronovias gown was big and bold, ensuring Carly looked every part the bride. “I always thought I’d go with a slim fit gown but as soon as I put the dress on, I knew it was right,” she smiles. Carly splashed out on Valentino shoes to pair with her dress while her bridesmaids complemented her pretty look in dusty pink gowns.
Mr and Mrs
Carly and Jack tied the knot during August’s bank holiday weekend, giving them a little extra time to celebrate with friends and family. Getting married at Slaugham Palace was Carly’s favourite part of the day – closely followed by the hilarious wedding speeches. “My father said, “We always knew Carly would be the first to get married”, as my sister was sitting right next to me – unmarried!” laughs Carly. “It was one of those comedy errors!”
Something for everyone
The couple got their wish for great food – with every course wowing their wedding guests. “The food tasted great and kept all our guests satisfied. This was important as we knew it was a long day,” smiles Carly. The couple’s canapé choices included mini fish and chips and beef Yorkshire puddings and their wedding breakfast comprised of three hearty courses. “We had game terrine to start, followed by duck, and then cheeses and a pick and mix table,” explains Carly. “In the evening, a hog roast was served too,” she adds.
Our perfect day
It wasn’t just the food that impressed either; the evening party kept guests entertained all night too. “Our band played all evening, making sure everyone had a great time on the dance floor,” says Carly. “Even though it rained pretty much all day, we still had a great day,” she adds. “It’s important to forget about anything unexpected – like the weather – and to focus on having an incredible time.”
