Finding the one
Claire and Steve had their hearts set on an amazing autumn wedding and were looking for the perfect setting that offered a wonderful combination of elegance and a relaxed atmosphere. They found exactly what they were looking for in Gaynes Park, a breathtaking barn wedding venue in Essex.
"It was only the second venue we had visited and we planned to see more, however, rather quickly upon arrival we realised it was the one," smiles Claire. "Great food was also important," she adds. Luckily for the couple, Gaynes Park catering team are renowned for creating the most incredible wedding food and drink and certainly ticked all the boxes.
The exquisite Essex wedding venue worked delightfully with the autumnal wedding theme Claire had in mind. She used white pumpkins throughout her décor, along with rustic leaves and décor. "I found a pumpkin farm in Kent that offered pumpkins in a variety of colours," explains Claire. "We wrapped up warm, put on our wellies and headed out for our first pumpkin patch adventure. In total, we bought 72 white pumpkins."
Two pumpkins were transformed by the couples' florist into flower baskets and adorned with pearl handles for the flower girls to hold. Candles and stag décor were also prominent throughout the wedding décor, while the Orangery was enhanced with rustic leaves, ombré roses inspired by Claire's dress, and little pine cones.
Dressing To Impress
When it came to dress shopping, Claire had a style in mind that would really show off her personality.
"My dress came from a boutique near my family home and I knew it was the one for me from the moment I saw it," she smiles. She chose a Mori Lee gown with beautiful ombré ruffles in shades of ivory, champagne and blush pink. "It was truly unique and suited me down to a tee," smiles Claire. Her three bridesmaids wore pale blush gowns from Coast, and her flower girls wore grey, both of which suited worked wonderfully with Claire's dress and the colour scheme of the day.
The big day
After 13 months of meticulous planning, the happy couple tied the knot on the 1st October. The stunning gardens and long walk to The Orangery looked fantastic and really drew Claire to the venue.
"I'd never seen or heard of another wedding venue where a bride and her bridal party could make such a beautiful entrance! I really admire all the hard work the team put in to keep it looking so good, no matter what time of the year," says Claire. "My amazing father walked me down the aisle and kept me calm and at ease," she smiles. "The best part was saying our vows to one and another and obviously saying ‘I do'! To have all our loved ones there, smiling and happy for us made it special too."
The wedding food was a very important part of the day for Claire and Steve. "We spent most of our budget on the venue, food and drink, but it really helped set the scene and atmosphere for the day and was definitely worth it," says Claire.
The couple opted for the casual dining package, which included a gourmet barbeque, and a dessert of chocolate brownies, vanilla ice cream, and popping candy. "The food provided won us over. The choice was fantastic. We were so excited to hear we could have a gourmet barbeque for our main wedding breakfast and then street food for the evening event. It was perfect," smiles Claire.
An unforgettable celebration
With the party in full swing, the couple's celebrations took to the dance floor, with family and friends enjoying a DJ and a live Motown band through the night. With a fun photo booth, a fab popcorn machine and outdoor pizza ovens, everybody had the most amazing night.
The happy couple had such an incredible day; we asked them if there were any moments which really stood out.
"We can't pick just one! The wedding team was one of the best teams I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The venue is run like a tight ship and everyone knows what they are doing and where they need to be. The whole day was perfect."
