Having decided on a summer wedding, Hayley and Scott knew they wanted a gorgeous countryside Surrey wedding venue with great outdoor space and stunning views. They planned to entertain little guests with garden games and create a warm and relaxing atmosphere for family and friends.
Let’s go outside
Much to their surprise, all the couple’s wishes and wants were met by the first venue they visited – Brewerstreet Farmhouse. In fact, they were so impressed they didn’t look anywhere else. “It felt perfect,” explains Hayley. “The venue had everything – from picturesque countryside surroundings to plenty of outdoor space for garden games. We also loved the charming stream, which we knew would provide an amazing backdrop for photos,” she adds.
To complement the couple’s light-hearted garden party affair, the pair opted for a pretty pastel colour palette and simple décor. Hayley chose a sweet pea and rose bouquet in pastel pink and ivory and created her own floral centrepiece displays, using paper flowers from Next at Home. The rest of the couple’s décor was very much DIY and included a table plan named after childhood pets. “We named each table after a pet and used old photos of us and our pets to create the table name,” explains Hayley. “It made for some interesting tables as we ran out pets – so one table was named after a goldfish ‘Daniel’,” she laughs.
Brewerstreet Farmhouse very much influenced Hayley’s choice of dress. “Even though I tried on some beautiful over-the-top dresses, I wanted something a little less fussy to fit with our venue,” says Hayley. Her chosen gown, designed by Donna Lee, offered a simple yet elegant look for her day and was perfect for the couple’s outdoor wedding.
Hayley personalised her attire with a pair of arty shoes, decorated by an artist at Beautiful Moment. The finished shoes were painted with blue roses and featured the couple’s wedding date on them. “They were wonderful,” smiles Hayley. Her groom wore blue too and kept his look casual – opting for Converse trainers and ditching the tie. “The boys accessorised with pink socks and a matching pink pocket square, keeping things informal to reinforce the garden party theme,” explains Hayley.
Sunshine and showers
On the morning of Hayley and Scott’s wedding, the weather didn't look so good. “There was rain and hailstones; it was pouring,” says Hayley. “I spent all morning in the hairdressers only for my hair to get ruined during the two minute walk to the beauty salon,” she laughs. “Once I arrived at the venue, my sister had to completely re-do my hair – and it looked even better than before!”
As if by fate, the rain stopped shortly after Hayley arrived at the venue – leaving the pair with bright sunshine and warm temperatures for the rest of the day. Hayley and Scott were able to enjoy an outdoor celebration and tuck into canapés and Pimm’s while the kids got involved in garden games. “Everything was brilliant and well organised, there was certainly no waiting around,” smiles Hayley. “The canapés were really tasty too!” she adds.
Something for everyone
The couple’s wedding reception followed in a large ivory marquee, sat in Brewerstreet Farmhouse’s grounds. The pair and their guests enjoyed a two-course sit down meal with options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. “There was lamb shank with dauphinoise potatoes or a goat’s cheese tart with dauphinoise potatoes. Dessert consisted of three mini puddings as we couldn’t decide on one,” she laughs.
The perfect party
The afternoon’s celebrations were just the start of Hayley and Scott’s unforgettable party. Come evening; yet more delicious food was served while the couple’s wedding band, Sound Champion, took to the stage. “We had a hog roast and vegetarian barbeque in the evening. As it was cooking all day, everyone was very excited by the time it was served,” smiles Hayley. “The band were a great choice too and got everyone up on the dancefloor,” she adds.
“Everything was made so easy because of all the support from the venue owners and caterers Super Event,” explains Hayley. “The music was brilliant, the food was delicious and we got to spend a relaxed and fun day with all our family and friends.”
