For their big day, Jade and James had their heart set on a beautiful venue where they could celebrate with all their friends and family, and dry weather so the day weather wasn’t a damp affair. They found the perfect setting to call their own in Clock Barn, a magical barn wedding venue in Hampshire, and even got lucky with the weather too!
“As soon as we turned onto the long country lane that led up to Clock Barn we both knew we would be booking the venue that day!” smiles Jades. “The barn felt warm and inviting which is exactly what we wanted. We also prioritised a venue where we could enjoy being outside and the grounds here were absolutely beautiful.”
Dressing the venue
The couple had always envisaged a rustic, country wedding and loved that Clock Barn came with a stunning décor of exposed timber beams and white walls which they could enhance with pops of colour.
“We worked with White Horse Flower Company and wanted the flowers to add colour to the barn, so we had a hanging flower installation behind the ceremony table which was unique and looked amazing,” explains Jade.
Jade and James stuck to their rustic theme by using milk jugs and wooden crates filled with flowers as table centres. Jade and her mum created an amazing seating out of more flowers and wooden boxes, while her stepdad created the wooden table numbers by hand.
Even the cake continued the colourful and floral style, with a beautiful three-tier sponge and fruit cake decorated with trailing ivy, flowers and bunting by Jade’s mum!
Looking the part
Jade looked incredible on the day and wore a stunning Ronald Joyce gown from Wedded Bliss in Dibden Purlieu. This particular dress had just arrived in the boutique when Jade was visiting and she fell for its long beaded back necklace and gold shimmer. She accessorised her dress with a pair of gorgeous shoes from Irregular Choice, a crystal headband and beautiful diamond earrings.
James looked dapper in a charcoal Ted Baker suit and tan shoes, and finished the look with a mint-green tie and pocket square. The green was repeated in the three bridesmaids’ dresses and worked perfectly with the summery colour scheme of the day.
The Perfect Day
Thankfully, any threat of rain had passed by the time Jade and James arrived at Clock Barn and so their day could go as they had hoped. They tied the knot in the characterful barn while their nearest and dearest watched on. Then they all made their way outside for a perfect summer drinks reception in the grounds. Guests enjoyed mini beef burgers, smoked salmon blinis and crispy risotto balls amongst other treats with white peach sangria and ice-cold beers.
After their three-course wedding breakfast provided by expert in-house caterers, Galloping Gourmet, the couple treated their guests to more tempting delights with a whole spit-roasted pig and crackling during the evening.
“This was set up outside the main barn and it was a beautiful evening. It was so lovely to see our guests sitting outside enjoying themselves and we’re still getting compliments on the food to this day.” – Jade
Jade and James had an amazing day celebrating their special day at Clock Barn, but there were a couple of moments that really stood out!
“My favourite moment was walking with James into the back field just after the ceremony and realising we were officially married and everything was perfect!” says Jade. “The build up to the big day can be stressful and overwhelming at times but in that moment it was all so worth it!”
The day wasn’t without its comedy moments either:
“The speeches were funny, especially when James was made to eat the hottest chilli going!” smiles Jade. “Also, I had forgotten to inform my maid of honour that she was a witness, so when it came to signing of the registry book she looked quite confused when they were calling out her name!”
