To celebrate their special day in style, Jenny and Andrew were planning a religious ceremony and a relaxed country reception to share with all their friends and family. They found all of this and more at Wasing Park, a stunning barn wedding venue in Berkshire that definitely ticked all their boxes.
"We loved Wasing Park from the second we found it online and by the time we had made it up the meandering driveway for a visit, we knew we had found our venue," says Jenny. "We loved every little detail, from the wooden chairs and red brick in the barn to the stunning and quirky rooms with copper baths, triangular beds and beautiful decor - not to mention the gorgeous St Nicholas Church on site."
A Touch Of Personality
One of the main reasons why the happy couple picked Wasing Park was how beautiful it is, so when it came to decorating the setting, they didn't feel that they needed to add too much to make it special to them. What they did add reflected both of their personalities and the notable date of the wedding of course!
"We added details which were important to both of us that would make the day memorable and would really capture both of our personalities," explains Andrew. "With the date being St Patrick's Day and Jenny being Irish, we did throw in a couple of Irish details on our favours and in the music we chose for the church service - and of course there were some Irish jigs to get everyone up on the dance floor! St Patrick's Day also marked our fifth anniversary together, so it was a double celebration, and makes remembering the anniversary even easier!"
Jenny and Andrew were keen for flowers to be a big part of the decorations and picked fresh seasonal greens and whites with touches of blue to create a stunning springtime feel for their wedding. Combined with jam jars full of spring blooms stacked on old books and plenty of tea lights in the arrow slits of the Castle Barn, they produced a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere for all their guests to enjoy.
Dressed To Impress
While finding the perfect dress can sometimes prove to be a tricky task, this certainly wasn't the case for Jenny!
"I found my dress on my one and only dress shopping trip at Mirror Mirror in Islington the day after we had found Wasing Park, so I had a good idea of how the dress would look on the day," smiles Jenny. "My dress was a tulle strapless princess dress with lace on the bodice and down the skirt, with an off-the-shoulder lace jacket, both by Pronovias, and I wore a cathedral veil during the ceremony. I fell in love with the dress for the soft romantic tulle and how comfortable it felt on me. I could instantly picture myself walking up the aisle in it!"
To continue the floral theme of the day, Jenny wore chandelier-style earrings with pearl floral details and a delicate necklace in a similar style. Powder blue heels by Rachel Simpson finished the look perfectly.
"Andrew wore a deep navy suit with Prince of Wales fabric tie and double-breasted waistcoat and finished his look with smart black shoes and his trademark striped socks!" says Jenny. "As a final touch, he wore a pocket watch gifted to him by his god-daughter who was also our flower girl."
An Unforgettable Day
Following their beautiful ceremony in the charming St. Nicholas Church, located within the grounds of Wasing Park, the couple made their way through the confetti to the Garden Room for amazing drinks reception and canapés. After plenty of photographs and time spent mingling with guests, everybody headed into the impressive Castle Barn for a mouth-watering wedding breakfast provided by the in-house caterers. With great music and plenty of dancing, not to mention the odd Irish jig, the happy couple had an amazing time celebrating with their nearest and dearest.
With a day full of so many memorable moments, it was hard to for the couple to highlight a favourite.
" It's impossible to choose just one, and it changes all the time, but the couple of minutes that we got to ourselves after our guests went in to be seated in the Castle Barn were magical," smiles Jenny. "I will always remember standing outside the barn hearing our guests standing up to cheer us in and stealing a kiss from my new husband. I thought it was unseen, but Neale managed to get that perfect shot!".
