Sorting the venue was perhaps the easiest part of the wedding planning process for Kathleen and Steven. Having always dreamed of getting married at Swynford Manor, the decision had been made years before the pair got engaged.
Just to be sure, Kathleen decided to visit a few other local venues – but nothing beat the magic and romance of Swynford Manor. “It was only ever going to be Sywnford,” smiles Kathleen. “The venue complemented all the wedding ideas I had in mind and was perfect for the fun, laid-back atmosphere we desired.”
To personalise the space, Kathleen and Steven combined a pretty rose gold colour scheme with creative photo ideas. “I love photos, so we had lots of polaroid photos everywhere,” explains Kathleen. “Our table plan featured photos of either myself or Steve with each guest,” she adds.
Flowers were also important in creating the look the couple were after. “We had flowers everywhere too. There were lots of vintage roses and heather and my bouquet even included the same silk roses my mum had in her own wedding bouquet,” says Kathleen. “I didn’t put it down all day, I loved it.”
Dare to be different
When it came to her wedding dress, Kathleen opted for something chic and unique – a grey café coloured satin gown. “I loved it because it was a bit different from the norm,” explains Kathleen. Her bridesmaids complemented her look in light grey maxi dresses while Steven dressed in a modern navy blue suit.
Tears of joy
The minutes leading up to the wedding were extremely emotional for Kathleen. “Although I’d spent most of the morning feeling calm, once I saw my dad I couldn’t stop crying,” says Kathleen. “He is such a protective dad and we shared a moment that I will never forget,” she smiles.
Kathleen’s emotions ran high right up until meeting her husband-to-be on the aisle. “It was definitely the best moment of the day,” smiles Kathleen. “I was shaking with nerves and excitement and could just see Steve and his massive grin,” she laughs.
Here’s to us
The relaxed drinks reception that followed the couple’s ceremony was the perfect antidote to the morning’s nerves. “We had Pimm’s, Corona and lots of different canapés,” smiles Kathleen. The couple and their wedding guests also enjoyed a scrumptious wedding breakfast at the Manor before tucking into their tiered cheese cake.
One thing the pair really wanted at their wedding was a live band. “Soul Fire, our evening band, were absolutely brilliant,” smiles Kathleen. The band’s party classics were enjoyed alongside Mexican fare – ensuring a laid-back celebration the two would never forget. “We wouldn’t have changed a thing,” says Kathleen. “Our wedding at Swynford Manor was utterly perfect.”
