When it came to tying the knot, Katie and James knew that they wanted a venue with a difference that would really live long in the memory. The found the perfect setting in Manor Mews; a stunning barn wedding venue in Norfolk.
"We loved Manor Mews the first time we saw it," says Katie. "We really wanted a venue which was unique and different that none of our family and friends would have been to. We loved the open feeling and brightness that the barn offered, and the fairy lights on the high beams add to the elegance and prettiness of such an amazing venue."
Setting The Style
To put their own stamp on their wonderful wedding venue, the couple opted for a blue colour scheme, which is both of their favourite colours. Katie was also determined to incorporate a bit of sparkle into the day; it was a very special occasion after all!
"My vision was all that was blue and sparkles, and everything fell into place after we started to plan and buy little bits for the wedding!" explains Katie. "We wanted to create a happy, fun, and memorable atmosphere and I think we 100% achieved this. Everyone had a fantastic time!"
The couple decorated the barn with a number of large white hanging lanterns which were incredibly effective, covered their chairs and tables in ivory and royal blue sashes, and added a sprinkling of diamantes for that extra special look.
Their wedding stationery by Cherished Lace continued the theme perfectly, both before and during the wedding day, with their invitations, table plan and name cards all looking incredible in ivory and royal blue.
The Perfect Look
When it came to picking the perfect dress, Katie showed just how important it is to be open to different ideas and styles, even if you have a clear picture in mind of what you are looking for.
"My dress was a Mori Lee fit and flare design which I found in a local shop in Norfolk," explains Katie. "I loved how the dress sparkled and I knew as soon as I tried it on how much I loved it! It was not the style I had originally thought I would have. However, I knew it was the one I would walk down the aisle in as my mum cried when she first saw me in the dress. That told me all I needed to know."
Katie paired her sparkling gown with glittering shoes by Rainbow, a pearl and diamante necklace and bracelet, and a stunning veil that was decorated with droplet pearls.
"My bridesmaids all wore royal blue and they looked stunning," continues Katie. "I knew I wanted a very straight elegant looking dress for the girls and the look was completed by matching earrings, necklaces, bracelets and hair diamantes (my gift to them on the morning of the wedding). The girls also wore a silver peep toe which looked fab with the dresses!"
It wasn't just the women looking their best on the day though, James and his groomsmen looked equally sharp in navy blue morning suits, white waistcoats and striking royal blue cravats.
The Order Of The Day
The couple exchanged their vows in a local church before heading to Manor Mews to celebrate their newlywed status with arrival drinks and canapés. After a few Bellinis and wedding photos, they sat down with their guests in the Great Barn to enjoy a mouth-watering wedding breakfast of pork shoulder Scotch egg, braised brisket of beef, and baked vanilla cheesecake to finish it off. With their shared love of music, a band at night was a must have, and the musicians did a great job of entertaining the guests all night long!
A Day Filled With Highlights
After such an amazing day of fun and laughter, it was hard for the newlyweds to pick just one stand out moment.
"There are so many!" smiles James. "Saying ‘I do' in front of all our family and friends, celebrating into the early hours (until 4 am in the hot tub drinking champagne), seeing everyone's smiles all day, and hearing the words, 'you are now husband and wife'. I could go on for days!"
"If there was any advice that I could pass on to others it would be to take in every minute, breathe and just go with it," says Katie. "Everything will be fantastic as all that matters is that you will be a married couple, any other little things that might get in the way will seem irrelevant once you are walking side by side. Finally, never let anyone dull your sparkle, it's such a special time to cherish."
