Madeline and Martyn were looking for an unforgettable setting for their wedding day where they could celebrate in style with all their friends and family and have a beautiful al fresco wedding ceremony. After a bit of searching, they came across Braxted Park, a magnificent country house that ticked all the boxes for the happy couple.
"We both immediately got goosebumps when seeing Braxted Park for the first time!" smiles Madeline. "We had our heart set on having our ceremony outside, and when we saw the walled garden ceremony space it was an instant love! The garden was beautiful, intimate and seemed just perfect."
An Elegant Theme
To match their picturesque location, the couple opted for an elegant and romantic look for their day. With an exquisite colour scheme of white, gold and pastel mint, they made their summer wedding at Braxted Park look beautiful.
"We just wanted to fill the venue with love and laughter and for everyone to have just a fantastic day," explains Madeline. "We dressed Braxted Park with loads of flowers in the ceremony area and the pavilion for our wedding breakfast. We decorated the tables with gold bowls filled with sweets and also had some scatter gems in gold and mint green to carry on the colour scheme."
Dressing To Impress
Finding the perfect dress took a little while and lots of trial and error for Madeline, but it was definitely worth the wait when she discovered ‘the one'.
"I am only five foot tall and had no idea what kind of dress I wanted or what would suit me when I started looking around," says Madeline. "It was quite fun in the first store I visited as I tried on lots of weird and wonderful shapes!"
"I soon realised due to my petite size that I felt most comfortable in a fitted, subtle fishtail dress. It was actually the last dress I tried on and when I came out I think me, my mum and my bridesmaids just knew it was the one! It was designed by Madeline Gardner and the detail was gorgeous, with diamantes, pearls, gold thread and three layers of lace!"
Madeline paired her stunning gown with some gorgeous ivory shoes by designer Charlotte Mills, and finished her look with pearl and diamond earrings from her mum and a Swarovski bracelet which was a present from her soon-to-be Groom.
To suit the elegance and grandeur of their impressive wedding venue in Essex, Martyn and his groomsmen opted for formal tails in royal navy blue, finished with cravats and pocket squares in mint green.
An Amazing Day
After getting their wish and tying the knot al fresco in the idyllic Walled Garden, the happy couple enjoyed a drinks reception with their guests amid the colourful flower beds and water features. The impressive Pavilion provided the perfect setting for their wedding breakfast and evening reception, and was also a brilliant blank canvas to help Madeline and Martyn make their day personalised to them. When their special day drew to a close, the couple and their nearest and dearest didn't have far to go for a wonderful place to spend the night, with luxurious guest accommodation and a charming honeymoon cottage just a short stroll away from the Pavilion.
The happy couple had an incredible day and wouldn't have changed a thing, despite a spot of rain while saying their vows! There were a couple of moments which stood out from the rest, however.
"I think seeing each other for the first time that day was the highlight for me," smiles Madeline. "Also at the very end of the night we had the entire wedding party on the dancefloor circled around us dancing to Bohemian Rhapsody – that was quite a moment!"
The day wasn't without its funny moments though. "As the registrar announced us husband and wife an almighty thunder crack sounded, which we couldn't have timed better if we had tried!"
