Finding the perfect wedding venue in Berkshire
Mattie and Lincoln were looking for a stunning venue that catered for every aspect of their wedding day and plenty of luxurious accommodation for them and their nearest and dearest. They found everything they needed and more in Wasing Park; a breathtaking exclusive use wedding venue in Berkshire.
"As we live in Australia, we don't get to see our friends and family very often so it was really important to me that everyone was able to stay at the venue overnight," explains Mattie. "So we could have breakfast together in the morning and didn't have to say goodbye at the end of the night!"
Setting the style
With their wedding date being New Year's Day, and because of the unforgettable way they got engaged, the happy couple opted for a beautiful wintry colour scheme and a reindeer theme throughout.
"Lincoln proposed to me on a magical holiday to Lapland where he had organised a reindeer sleigh trip through a snowy forest under the northern lights," smiles Mattie. "So reindeer are always going to have a very special place in our heart!"
"One of the most beautiful things we had was a painted picture of a male and female reindeer that a friend had painted. We then had finger paint and got everyone to fingerprint onto the antlers making a really beautiful guest book," says Mattie.
Dressing To Impress
Mattie found the perfect dress and avoiding drama and endless trying-on sessions stumbling across her gown by chance! While out with one of her bridesmaids back in Australia, she happened upon a stunning Maggie Sottero dress that was exactly the style she was looking for. And as Mattie didn't need any alterations to be made, she saved herself a fair few dollars too. In fact, the only wedding dress drama came when flying back to the UK, with it being too big and having to go in the hold luggage!
"That was a very stressful journey, especially when one flight was delayed and we nearly missed a connection," says Mattie. "I was so relieved to be reunited with it at the other end!"
Lincoln looked dapper on the day with a tailored three-piece black suit and classic white shirt. He finished his look with a purple tie that worked with their chosen colour scheme perfectly and the three bridesmaid's long purple dresses.
A Day To Remember
Mattie and Lincoln made full use of the stunning facilities on offer at this luxurious Berkshire wedding venue and got things started by tying the knot in the light-filled Garden Room. They made this versatile space their own with wonderful seasonal decorations before celebrating with their guests by sharing some Christmassy canapés and warming mulled wine.
After capturing some photos, the party headed to the Castle Barn for a delicious wedding breakfast, created by the in-house Galloping Gourmet team. After enjoying a crispy duck salad, mouth-watering lamb for the main course and a decadent cheesecake dessert, everybody was thoroughly fed and watered by the end.
With an incredible live band, home-made photo booth and plenty of games (that were supposed to be just for the kids!) Mattie and Lincoln's evening reception was a big success.
Highlights and Advice
Mattie loved every minute of her incredible day at one of Berkshire's finest wedding venues, but there was one particular moment which stood out as her favourite.
"One of my friends sang during the ceremony and the two little flower girls started throwing their petals in the air in the most beautiful way. It was so innocent and spontaneous; it was just perfect!"
If there are any tips that she could pass on to brides and grooms-to-be it would be this:
"I made sure that I had everything really organised beforehand so that I didn't have to worry on the day. That being said, if things don't go exactly to plan, no one else knows exactly how anything was meant to be, so even if it isn't perfect no one will know! The things that don't go to plan are often the funniest and the most memorable bits of the day."
